I know this will go down like a lead balloon with some though I see Celtic are close to signing another young striker from Fulham . I’ve been impressed with Johnny Kenny the few times I’ve seen him , think there’s a player there and wouldn’t be against taking him on loan …

Kenny would be a good signing. We were interested in him when he signed for Celtic.

I don't think it's unreasonable to say we may see Newell get phased out of a starting role more into a older head type who comes on or rotates more often with the starters. Similarly I think there's a decent chance we see Levitt leave if he doesn't want to sign a new deal as well as NMW. That would leave us looking at a potential centre mid group of Triantis, Simons, Manneh, Newell and then potentially Campbell as a last resort. I think between them we'd be well covered in that area of the park.

Big ask to secure both Triantis and Simons though.
I agree re Newell, sadly, it has possibly been worst time for him to get a bad injury with his age and I think he would have shone in that team of last year, I really feel for him. I hope as you say he still has a role to play, but like you I think it will be a diminishing one, and I suppose it would be whether he is happy with that.

I get the impression he loves it here and in Edinburgh in general so I'd be surprised if its a case of use him or lose him but I think for the next season or two he may need to be okay with that role. Time will tell of course but I think the club will be looking to try and keep him as he's the right type of character you want in a dressing room, especially leading it.

Kenny has been terrible when I've seen him, although it has only been a few minutes here and there. His performance in the cup final against Aberdeen was pathetic.

Wither I’m right or wrong I’ve had the feeling that since Gray became manager NMW doesn’t exactly fit in with his plans for the team and is one he’d possibly like to move on . Levitt I’m still not convinced on either and with his contract situation he could be one to move on if we can recoup what we paid for him .

If we could get Triantis 🤞 he’d be one of the first names on the team sheet , the other one will be McGrath ( rate him highly) after that it’s a case who else plays with Triantis and McGrath in Midfield . If we get Simons too then we have a good option from the bench for Triantis and Campbell for McGrath would give us something different too .

I remember seeing a picture of him at ER before they moved in for him . I think there’s a player there and with the way Gray and his staff have improved some of the players we have I wouldn’t be against taking him on loan if it were a possibility.

Agree with NMW, he did do well for a period around the Hearts/Celtic/United win stretch where he stepped up from a place I thought he was as good as finished here. But he seems to not have kicked on the same way Levitt did and ended the season a bit out of favour again. I think Levitt can be a real player if he builds on how he finished the season but I doubt the club will want him to run his contract down.

I think you're likely to see McGrath start most games either in a wider area or as the number 10 if we stick with the current system with Campbell rotating with him similar to Hoilett did. But if we signed Simon and Triantis I would be surprised if they both don't start together more often than not.

Personally I am not in favour of taking players from other Scottish clubs due to the disruption it causes when playing parenting clubs .
We should be using the clubs in the Black Knights group

Still no convinced about McGrath but happy to be proved wrong have never really noticed him any time I have seen him play seems to flit in and out of games is inconsistent and injury prone but nevertheless has chipped in with 10 goal contributions in each of his last three seasons 4 goals six assists then 9 and 1 then 8 and 2

A four year contract seems a bit risky for someone Aberdeen signed on a free but looking forward to seeing him up close and personal to form a proper opinion and hope the gamble pays off

    13 caps for Eire

Was really impressed with Manneh in the late stages of his recent appearance against the Rangers looked a star in the making but still too early to say

So would I . If we take in the two of them you could be looking at a transfer fee paid between £1mill and £1.5mil at a conservative guess , seems a lot when we are going to need to strengthen the attacking position quite a bit plus maybe the defence too.
True , but we’ll likely sell Vente, Youan perhaps Miller. Will Newell be ok again? Even if we only play two Euro ties we will possibly earn near enough £1million. A bit of pragmatic team strengthening will go a long way in Europe and to try and get 3rd again

Would be some work if a video from 3 years ago was made to tease a signing this window.

I always liked him whenever he got a game for us, mainly because he wasn't afraid to get himself into the box, or to run past the ball carrier ..... both things we absolutely lacked from midfield at the time. He also had what to me looked like a Lewis Stevenson type attitude, I was disappointed when we let him go to be honest and thought it was a mistake.

Delighted for him to get that move, if nothing else he's probably at least doubled his wages.
