I thought it might be a bit of fun to post your predictions now for next season. Just instinct really rather than having much to go on. We can then revisit it in a few weeks once European paths become clearer, squads start to take shape etc etc and then maybe see how everyone done at the end of the season. I'll go:
Celtic
Rangers
Hibs
Hearts
St Mirren
Aberdeen
Dundee United
Motherwell
Falkirk
Kilmarnock
Livingston
Dundee

Not the most optimistic of souls are you ! We literally have the best squad in years, have just nicked Aberdeens best player and have the most capable manager for a generation. In the last 18 games of the season we lost only three times and two of them were against Celtic. Yet you think we will be bottom six. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but we really won’t be bottom six next season.

I think Rangers will close the gap on Celtic.
3-5th is anyone’s game, I just can’t see us finishing third in back to back seasons and Aberdeen have group stage football to contend with again.
St Mirren will be St Mirren again and the rest will be pretty awful.

At this point in time we look by far the 3rd best team. Obviously plenty time for that to change but it would take us standing still and some really good work by hearts and Aberdeen to become as good as us.
Group stage Europe could derail us a bit, but I don’t think qualifiers and playoffs will.

1. Celtic … comfortably.
2. Sevco.
3. Hibs . Think we are as good as the rest so why not .
4 . Aberdeen.
5. Hertz .
6. St mirren ….
Be surprised if this isn’t the teams that make top 6 . Wither I have the order right they will finish in is another matter .
7. Dundee U .
8. Motherwell.
9. Killie.
10. Dundee. Think Dundee will sack the manager early and appoint another which might save them.
11. Falkirk.
12. Livi …
Hard to predict in we don’t know who’s going to be Motherwell manager . Both Dundee U and Killie have a fair bit of rebuilding to do . Think Dundee , Falkirk and Livi will struggle.

Celtic
Rangers
Sadly I think these two will be comfortably in front, but I think Celtic will drop even more points this year to other teams unless they buy some extra consistent creativity. Conversely I think under Martin they will do better against other teams this year but will lose to Celtic in most if not all games. Which will win Celtics title, and probably see Martin heading back down South for a month at an expensive meditation centre with his Hummus sarnie.
Hibs
Aberdeen
Hearts
The order here will depend on squad changes I feel, currently with what Hearts look to be looking like buying, typical McInnes players, I think they will be someway behind us and Aberdeen and probably competing with St Mirren for 5th. Obviously as it stands we may have big gaps to fill and will depend on how far we go in Europe, and Aberdeen with maybe a more settled first 11 are way short of depth to compete on all fronts. So for me it is all about recruitment for all 3 teams, and if we do it correctly even with Europe I still think we are way too strong for Hearts and Aberdeen.
St Mirren
Probably easy best of the rest, and again probably a reasonably consistent set up that helps, but again may change by end of August.
Dundee United
Currently best of bottom 6 but shipping players like Trump is shipping co-pilots, think they may actually struggle if not able to replace with even close quality, which not sure they can. Probably will end up nearer to 3 below than they would like. May even slip into a fight with that group below.
Motherwell
Dundee
Killie
I think Killie are also going to go through big changes, and just not convinced Kettlewell is up to that. So think they are in most precarious position, Dundee have taken a huge risk with manager and likely to lose a couple more big names, think they may have accepted it is all about staying up for them. Motherwell if they can get right manager may end up more likely in DU position. Again end of August crucial for all 3.
Livi
Falkirk
Both looked ridiculously weak for this division and look like lambs to the slaughter. Recruitment, again and a bit obviously, key for both these. Probably especially Falkirk. Do they have any more like Arfield? Does Arfield have the legs for the top league. Two very experienced managers but will John McGlynn carry on his conversion to total football or join the rest of the bottom feeders in parking double decker buses on either side of his box. Livi will at least be predictably dull, with their pitch as their 12th man. Their VAR will probably be a 1926 box camera to keep up their standards. Not my favourite place.Last edited by Jock O; 06-06-2025 at 11:18 AM.

There is a bit to play out. How much of the team we keep. How new players fit in. Whether our key men stay fit.
I don't expect we'll match our late season run at any point during this season. I also hope we're in Europe long enough to struggle with the schedule.
I do think hibs should be top 6 every season. I've set my bar low so there is room to be surprised.
