Hearts have a bigger fanbase than us, not by hundreds of thousands but by a few. It's probably reflected in the relatively higher average attendance they have had the last few seasons.

Hibs trend is good. In 94/95 our average was 8751, in 14/15 it was 10170 and last season it was 17082. That's almost doubled in 20 years and up significantly in the last 10. The fans are doing their part which generally means the club are doing theirs.
That’s a 30 year span rather than 20 but agree with the point :-)

Summer football rather than winter could be the solution to this, however there are many drawbacks with summer football.

I am one of the many who rarely goes to a game due to work commitments. Then there are families who simply can't afford it, cost of living has floored families into living wage to wage with no spare money to play with at the end of the month. Edinburgh is also became so expensive to live in so many have had to leave and live outwith meaning geographically and traffic wise it's more of a hassle to come through on a Saturday.

I like the idea of summer football, but winter can be such a difficult time of year (mentally) for some people. It's no exaggeration to say that if you removed the football from their lives during those dark months then things would get even more miserable.

I love the festive fixtures around Christmas and new year too. Can't imagine the season without them

Is the name At Last 61 a reference to how many years since Hearts last won a League Cup?

Because it's actually worse than that...63 years by the time the next final comes around...

    Pitiful record

For a stadium with a capacity of 18/19k there always seems to be a lot of empty seats at Tynecastle. I'd wager there was more going to Easter Road if it was bums on seats being counted.
Its one of Scottish football’s mysteries. An elephant in the room - a question always unanswered.

Does anybody know what the actual capacity of the new “Tynecastle Park” is?

And what is their highest quoted attendance since that new stand was opened?

They quote 19852, but their attendance v us 29/12/24 was 18726.

So, unless it was a made up game with zero away fans and no segregation, you have to assume that 18726 is the most bums on seats they can get - ever - at that tip.

The first derby at ER had over 20000 fans, something the pink flumps can only dream about.

Exactly. This mythical 20k that is often bandied about re their capacity is nothing more that a pipedream. Is that 18726 the highest they’ve had since the new shelter went up then?

You are correct. The maximum attendance they are permitted as per their safety certificate is 19852.

I wonder if that number included seats in hospitality and the dining chairs in the dug out?

Funnily enough they have never came out and said what their official capacity actually is. That tells you everything you need to know.

We also have the option and capability to expand/extend the capacity at ER should we need too!

As a lifelong Hibby I have felt a strong sense of guilt only fathering two children who have gone on to support the Cabbage.

Hearts fans on the other hand are encouraged to have bigger families so they can claim to be the big team.

Let's face it. Pink Bus Shelter folk don't pitch up there to watch good football. They go there in spite of the quality of football on show.

    So sad 😪

They've learnt that renting is the way to go, especially if you have a cosy relationship with the people who own the site and they don't bother to pursue the rent when they don't pay it.

Bit of a pain having to wait for the school hockey teams and the local pensioners badminton club to finish but as you say it's what big teams do.

The 13 Tynecastle Derby attendances since completion of their new stand were:

    27 Dec 2017 - 19316
    21 Jan 2018 - 18709
    09 May 2018 - 19324
    31 Oct 2018 - 19410
    06 Apr 2019 - 19667
    26 Dec 2019 - 19313
    12 Sep 2021 - 18177
    09 Apr 2022 - 19041
    02 Jan 2023 - 18980
    27 May 2023 - 18971
    07 Oct 2023 - 18675
    28 Feb 2024 - 18936
    26 Dec 2024 - 18726

    Average attendance was 19018.

Noticeable that all bar one of the last 7 attendances, dating back to 2021, were under 19k with only April 2022 just breaking the 19k figure.

They're not so big after all.

Our average attendance over a period of 8-9 years, since winning the cup have been the highest since a run of 12-13 years immediately after the war. these are the halcyon days, enjoy them!

    And even that isn't accurate.

The total number is based on asking Hearts fans the question "Who do you know that is on the Hearts season ticket waiting list?". A typical response is "My wife, my sister, my aunt and my cousin" which is recorded as four people despite being the same person.

To be fair they are our rivals and we should be competing with them on and off the pitch. We have the support shame so many stay away.

We're likely to hit record season ticket sales this year, how is that the fans staying away?

We really need to attract more fans to our games, we play better football than hearts, but we have less fans going to Easter road, what do we need to attract them, personally I would like a couple of players who would attract more fans to come to games
We could steal some poppy charity money, rip off some other charities and a lot of local businesses, then have the business go tits up and plead poverty but "a big boy done it and run away"? That might work?
