I’ve had this discussion recently as well. A guy I work with is, to put it mildly, a piece of ****. Racist, misogynistic, homophobic, bigoted. You name it, he’s almost certainly it.

Upon overhearing one of his obscene rants about ‘the blue haired *****’, I asked him how the ‘blue haired *****’ were negatively impacting his life. He claimed it was being shoved down his throat everywhere he goes so I asked him the last time he ever seen one protesting, or even spoke to one. He never had, but it was all over his instagram apparently. I pointed out how the algorithm on Instagram only pushes you stuff that you engage with and as such, I never see any ‘blue haired *****’ on mine, I just see videos of food and Ronaldinho, but he’ll see it because he’s continuously resharing homophobic pish. Essentially, it’s not being shoved down his throat, he’s shoving it down his own throat and then greeting about the fact he’s doing it.

Generally speaking, you’ll find that 99% of the intolerant ******s in the world will have absolutely no real life experience or reason to hate another group of people and it’ll almost always be based upon hearsay from some other piece of **** or nowadays, lies on social media.

Are all undocumented migrants violent criminals?

Taking the ICE question, though:-

The problem with protectionism, which is what the tariffs are part of, is that an economy on the scale of the US throwing up those barriers then creates problems both for itself and for other economies. It follows from that that people from those other struggling economies want to leave them, and go somewehere where they perceive they will have a better life.

It's one of the effects of colonialism, both cultural and economic, that our (and I include the UK in that) colonies want some of what their colonisers want. So... put up trade barriers, and you will get more immigrants climbing over them.

Would the US not be better served by removing the barriers, hence encouraging people to stay where they are by investment there (as well as at home)? That's the doctrine most American administrations have been following since the end of WW2.
