The Last of Us season 2 ***** mild spoilers ahead *****

Have to say the finale was pretty disappointing. Some jumps of logic that they haven't previously been guilty of (people moving around and finding each other very easily) and then the "cliffhanger" is just stupid and disingenuous IMO.

Some great individual episodes but the way the story is being told, leaving Abby's side of it all until next season is pretty daft. I get that this is apparently faithful to the game. But for TV viewers we've had a few seasons now of the main characters we started with. I don't really give AF about Abby and her story. And it's probably 2 years before we get more of that.

They surely would have been better mixing the Abby stuff in with the Ellie stuff this year.

That's by design, wait til after S3 and see if you feel the same, I have issues with some of what they have done and casting but it's a fairly faithful recreation or as close as you are going to get

I get that. It’s clear they want to make a faithful adaptation. But it’s a different medium - lots of people just wont bother coming back.

I think they had to give us more this season for it to work a bit more effectively as a tv show

Again though, when it’s good it’s really very good.

    I’m with you.

Pretty shan end to the season and felt like it was one or two episodes short.

And while I enjoyed this season didn’t think it was as good as the first and the pace of play was pretty slow at times.

A few of the Dana / Ellie dewy eyed scenes were a bit naff as well…despite some of their other scenes with their witty repartee being rather good.

All in all I felt a bit short changed getting only 7 episodes after such a long wait then it cutting off with some sort of meagre cliff hanger on a character we hardly know or care about.

In memory of George Wendt I want to add Cheers to this thread. It's repeated every morning on C4 and it's still absolutely brilliant!

The characters were amazing, Sam, Woody, Coach, Frasier but Norm and Cliff were standouts for me.

I think the last ever episode is still one of the most watched episodes of all time.

    So good.
Used to love watching Cheers absolutely brilliant yes Norm and Cliff are fantastic characters

Watching Dept Q on Netflix, really enjoying it so far. Watched 5 episodes back to back so will probably finish it tomorrow.
Yeah getting into this myself. Really pulls you in story wise and of course plenty of Edinburgh in it. I’ve only done 3 episodes so far but will binge a load today.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Mentioned it previously. Every episode is good but episode 8 in the first season The Orpheus Syndrome, featuring a very old looking Nick Nolte, is absolutely brilliant, brilliant TV. Rewatching the first season now just to give context to season two.
I'm ploughing through this series, but if you hadn't specifically recommended episode 8, I'd have given up by now and my wife already has. I think it's terrible.

Let's face it, she basically has a superpower and she can't fail, can she.

Is there any context to take into series 2? She has a different job every week, we see a murder happen, so there's no mystery, and she figures out what we already know using her superpower.

Roll on episode 8 so I can stop watching!

    (Sorry).

There’s definitely a change in her circumstances at the end of season one, and more jeopardy, but very much the same quirky humour so if its not your bag it probably wont grow on you.

I'm not sure how I've never seen any of his videos before but have been watching a lot Billy Moore's YouTube channel and really enjoying it, he goes around Town and Cities and documents them showing the harsh reality of some places.

Was told about him a few weeks ago as he came here to Corby about a month ago and filmed in the estate i moved from in Feb, He's not like that Charlie guy who goes around Manchester looking for content by taunting the homeless and protesters, he actually wants to help the homeless etc.

Seems like he has some story with a book and a film about him which i need to try and check out.

    Just finished Dept Q.

Really enjoyed it. Thought it was well written and acted throughout. Good plot and good humour. So a defo recommend from me on this one!

I’m the opposite, watched the first couple and became bored with it, the wife is enjoying it so it’s still being watched but I tend to read when it’s on.

You can tell it's based on Scandi Noir. Apparently when they re-wrote the scripts for the English/Amazon market the writer was taken with a few Scottish phrasings that you wouldn't normally hear outside the likes of River City.
After the tension of the final episode, I laughed out loud at DI Hardys (played by Lochends own Jamie Sives) closing line as he stood at the top of the stairs.

Started Dept Q enjoyed the first episode.

    Finished Mobland brilliant I thought.

I have just finished episode three of Department Q, one of the best things I have watched in a while.
    Every gimmick hungry yob,
Digging gold from rock and roll
Grabs the mic to tell us,
    He'll die before he's sold.

I've been watching Mindhunter tonight. (Netflix).

It's a few years old now but it's very interesting.

A bit more intelligent than the usual serial killer type programmes.

It’s David Fincher, it’s very good.

Unfortunately it ends at season 2 and will not return.

Last of Us series 2. Really wanted to like it, loved the first one. Never played the game, just liked the storytelling. But series 2…its just a bit…boring?

I’ve been forced to watch it with the Mrs, I’ve hated every second don’t understand the hype it’s had, some of the acting has been brutal.

I'm with you on that with Dept Q. Lead actor is truly awful. And his character is so cliched. Likewise his boss. Good cast apart from them but I'm not itching to watch episode 3.

Watched the first couple of episodes of Death Valley, with Timothy Spall.

It's a 'crime thriller' that's not to be taken too seriously and I've quite enjoyed it so far.

Got to say I thought Dept Q is the best thing I have seen on Netflix for quite some time good acting script and storyline

Fun spotting all of the cameos and the street scenes in and around Edinburgh

I did say to Mrs BH it might have been better if the obnoxious unlikeable lead character had been played by a Scottish actor maybes David Tennent but maybe the budget had gone on Kelly Macdonald?

Who wants to hear about the 1966 World Cup anyway?

Thought Akram Salim ( Alexej Manvelov ) was excellent as Morck’s assistant

Haha forgot she was in this. Suggested to my wife that we start watching it tonight but she absolutely despises Kelly Macdonald - she says her voice grates on her but I think it goes beyond that

My wife feels exactly the same way. She continually mocks her voice.
