Took the boy to see Minecraft last night. Mostly full of 12 year old boys all having a great time shouting out specific lines then applauding.

Not heard an atmosphere at the cinema like that since Rocky IV 😂

It was a decent watch and quite funny in bits - especially the scenes with Stiflers Mom
Glad you enjoyed it. You lost me at Minecraft though! I have seen Rocky IV :-)

Tried Mickey 17 with Robert Partison. Thought it looked really good from the trailer ages ago, in reality I gave up after 30 mins. His accent in it is also particularly annoying.

Same with Black Bag. I’m not averse to a slow spy film, and I like Michael Fassbender, but couldn’t stay interested in it and gave up after half an hour or so again.

I watched Snatch last night still great fun.

I watched A Real Pain last night on Disney Plus

Great wee film. Nothing really happens but a lot happens if you know what I mean. Great performances too

Started watching Minecraft, seemed like Jack black self indulgent nonsense and due to the game, I had no clue what he was doing, I'll leave it for the kids

Yeah really enjoyed this one. Find it a bit bizarre that Culkin won best supporting actor, when he's clearly leading the film. But the Oscar rules are pretty daft I guess.

Always liked Jesse Eisenberg as an actor. Will follow anything he writes/directs now too.

Watching Conclave for the 2nd time. Timely. Just a beautiful movie though.

    I watched Trap.

Really wanted to see this from the marketing campaign and my fondness of M.Night films. I thought it was terrible. A stupid premises all done to promote the directors daughters musical career by the looks of stuff.

Ludicrous, terrible script and an awful plot.

I agree, think there’s a few posts a few pages back on it, I was the same as you so bad I felt it must have been a spoof not one I’ll watch again

Watched The Pianist at the weekend, I think for the first time since it came out more than 20 years ago. I recall it being a tough watch, but it's relentlessly harrowing from start to finish. Remarkable story though. Schindler's List popped up at the credits as a 'you might also like' but I think that double bill would have been too much.

I wanted this to be the film that rejuvenated the Marvel franchise. The one that made it all exciting and vital.

You can’t always get what you want.

I was really disappointed with this. The story was a bit all over the place, the effects were very basic and the action felt formulaic. The screen was near deserted so it might have benefited from a big screen atmosphere

The film makers can’t be blamed for that. What they can be blamed for is this - a film that could have been far better than it was

I see Trump has said he is going to impose a 100% tariff on Non-American movies and he's appointed Jon Voight, Sylvester Stallone and Mel Gibson as Special Ambassadors to promote Hollywood. FFS does he not even know that Mel Gibson is Scottish.

So disappointed to read some of Jon Voigts politics. One of my favourite performances is him in Runaway Train.

I thought it was a step up from the recent Captain America film. I felt it was starting to build a bit of a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe between the characters but then it seemed to overstretch itself and the finale felt very rushed.

There will be a lot riding on the new Fantastic Four film and subsequent Avengers and Spiderman movies but I suspect they'll never fully recover the quality of previous years.

Voigt's been a lifelong hardline Republican, but that shouldn't deflect from the brilliance of the actor who played Joe Buck. Morrissey's openly embraced pretty extreme right-wing ideology for years now (views it's suspected he kept under wraps in the early days) but I still listen to the Smiths.

Morrissey's also released a fair chunk of decent solo stuff although I think his most recent album remains unreleased. From the snippets I've heard the title track Bonfire of Teenagers is suitably outspoken while Rebels Without Applause carries echoes of earlier days.

Surprised nobody has mentioned "Sinners"? I was blown away, can't wait to watch it again. Hopefully will catch in IMAX at some point.

Really delivers on so many levels and Michael B.Jordan is superb in a great cast. Delroy Lindo, Jack O'Connell, Hailee Steinfeld and also a debut performance from some kid who's name escapes me!

    5 star stuff.

Will give this a bash, especially as Michael B Jordan is a part owner of Hibs

Never mind that. The problem with the film is that it’s not that good 2/5

I thought Conclave was beautifully filmed and the acting was top notch, but that ending? We saw it in the cinema and those last couple of minutes prompted quite a lot of laughter and a few groans. It was hard to tell how much of it was derisive and how much people just found it funny. I gather the movie stayed pretty faithful to the novel, but to me the ending seemed corny/plain ridiculous. I'd already started to suss what the twist might be in terms of who gets the gig and personally I felt that would have been enough.

Watched Sinners. Thought it was decent enough. The first two thirds were quite well done, then the last third felt like the quality dropped and they didn’t know how to continue their own stamp on the genre.

How To Train Your Dragon - haven't seen the original animated version but really enjoyed it. 'Best film I've seen' according to my son - but he said that after Minecraft as well.

I finally got round to watching these two movies at the weekend, I’d seen volume one when it released and have no idea why I didn’t watch volume two before now.

Absolutely terrific movies, as usual with Tarantino movies, the dialogue has you hooked quickly and he’s an absolute genius at knowing when and where to shamelessly lift from other movies and genres and there’s loads of that going on in these films.

It’s a great story, cast superbly and ranks high on Tarantino’s creations imho.
