Yeah I do agree, current form makes it hard to drop him for sure. I also don't think it would serve anyone well for that lad to come in and not play either so unless they think he's an obvious upgrade that justifies dropping Smith then I don't really see the point in bringing him in at this point.

My prediction though is that we find perhaps another number 2 type of keeper on loan or on a free and Smith will continue to start anyway. Either that or we go all in on the idea that Murray Johnson becomes our number 2 with a view of playing him in certain situations down the line, although I'm honestly not sure that's the right approach currently and a proper loan will serve him well.
Certainly want another good keeper to come in to challenge Smith and while the Paulsen talk might happen it just doesn’t feel like it’s a deal that suits both parties IMO .

I think that to about us finding another number 2 type as well . If you look at the other keepers in our league that’s currently playing there’s no one you’d really swap Smith for with maybe Sinisalo being the only one possibly? As they say if somethings not broken then …….

I think Johnson would be better going on loan as I do think a loan would be beneficial for Rudi too .

If I'm honest I would still swap him with a Schmeichel, and I don't think it's too much of a difference between someone like Walton or Mitov on their days.

You not a fan of the starting goalie for the team that has wrapped up the league?

Not just that. He's also still Denmarks number 1 keeper, keeping out Leicesters current EPL keeper and a guy that Chelsea paid £20m for last summer.

Sort of meant keepers currently playing but you are right in Schmeichel is an extraordinary good keeper even at his age. Mitov was one I was wanting us to sign but I think he’s looked shaky and has a mistake in him , certainly did against the RoI recently. Walton I don’t know about though would guess the stats would favour Smith .

He was brilliant for Ross County in his 2nd season and I always saw him as an indicator that Malky could unearth a gem - there were 1 or 2 others during his time there.

He seems to have done well in Belgium as well.

I didn't say I was a fan, but have you seen the gut on the guy?

I think a few clubs , hertz rumoured to be one that were interested in him . Funny you mention 1 or 2 others there at that time as I’m trying to remember the other guy they had that looked quite good , think his name began with the letter H ? .

Aye, I remember my eyes being as big as his gut when he ran onto the pitch that day. Glad he quickly made everyone in the stadium that day look a fool.

Hungbo - he was on loan from Watford I think but now at Wigan?

He's a massively highly rated goalkeeper, why wouldn't it be beneficial to have him for a year or two instead of **** like Bursic.

Yeah , that’s the guy , thanks . I couldn’t remember his name . I see the record saying Hibs will face stiff competition from teams in England and Scotland for Charles Cook but Hibs are hoping MM’s influence could swing it .

I didn’t say it wouldn’t be beneficial . I’m saying that our current keeper is doing very well it would be very hard to drop him if his form continues . BK’s will want Paulsen playing regularly and I’m not sure we can guarantee that .

You said it wouldn't suit both parties. It would if he was good enough to play for us. If not then we wouldn't sign him.

If he's a better goalkeeper there's no room for sentiment if we strive to improve. Smith is doing well but there is better out there.

The whole point in the Bournemouth tie up is to get players to the club that we wouldn't be able to afford nor attract in normal circumstances. Signing the best goalkeeper in Australia is one of them times for me.

If a players playing well like Smith even to the point where his stats are the best or near best in the league then I don’t think he should just be dropped .. for that reason I don’t know if it does suit both parties.

I can understand dropping a player if his form dips and he’s making mistakes though when they are playing well or in Smiths case excellent then it would be really harsh in dropping him …

You say there’s no room for sentiment but we also have to watch that we don’t effect the spirit and togetherness this squad has shown by dropping players who are playing well too .

Regan Charles-Cook. Daily record reporting we are potentially after
The same report saying McGrath will sign a 3 year deal with Hibs in the summer.

The BKs can want whatever they want. If any player isn’t up to scratch or has a dip in form they’ll be out the team. SDG will decide on who plays. No guarantees for any player.

5 goals and 6 assists since joining in October , Key player for them

Always liked Charles-cook when he was in the league before

27, decent age. If he’s still got it, why not.

Again, recruitment team have maybe learnt lessons, knows the league, knows the club, we know him, he’s done it at this level.

Would not be against this one

    Im the same.

Lot of people asking where he fits into the team but we need options. Could be to come off the bench, it might be against certain teams, he might alter the way he plays, we could change formation.

IMO there’s always a place in the squad for fast, creative forwards that score goals,

Charles-Cook is inconsistent but on his day, is a good player. Wouldn’t imagine he’d be as frustrating as some others out there though 😂. Hopefully, if true, SDG gets the best out of him.

Not sure what lessons the recruitment team would’ve learnt? They scout far and wide, hundreds, if not thousands of players per season before pitching them to the gaffer & co, who will then do the final due diligence. There are a number of factors to consider when it comes to whether a player fits in the team - it doesn’t just sit with the recruitment team though.
