One day's notice to change all your working arrangements. The Department of Homeland Security is halting policies that allowed some employees to work flexible arrangements, giving workers less than a day’s notice to start a five-day, in-person schedule.
“All employees are expected to report to their assigned duty station five days a week, beginning tomorrow April 28, 2025,” says an internal email.

He hasn’t the brain to be sinister and make it look accidental. He’s an evil, narcissistic, ****ing idiot.
This is an adult businessman who talked about windmills giving you cancer, about injecting yourself with bleach to cure Covid, who thought electric boats would electrocute you at sea, who calls everything beautiful, who is a pathological liar, a sex offender, a fraudster…
He’s a ****ing idiot. No question about it.
It takes one monologue from him for you to understand how stupid the fat **** is. He can barely string a coherent sentence together, he’s an imbecile.
It’s absolutely mental that he’s found himself as president twice.Follow the Hibs podcast, Longbangers, on Twitter (@longbangers)

Same in the UK, I recently had an extended chat with a high ranking UK politician who is by no means like Trump but comes from a very working class background, whilst eloquent they have a very strong regional dialect. They have come under scrutiny from the UK's right wing press for drinking in a wine bar or how they dress, but every time they attack them their support feels like they are being attacked. This is the same with Farage and others of his ilk, the more their lies are called out the more their support feel their ideals are under attack and the more they stand behind those they feel represent their viewpoint.
Sometimes what we find distasteful in politicians is exactly that what attracts others to them.Last edited by Hibrandenburg; 29-04-2025 at 05:29 AM.

I posted previously about Trump giving people license to be their worst selves. That's what his whole movement is all about. He is utterly shameless and allows his supporters to be too.
They don't have political points of view that can be rationally argued against. This is their identity, their entire sense of self - they are MAGA. Nothing will ever change that, certainly not anything Trump says or does - regardless of how negatively it affects them or the country.
Their worldview, thanks to Trump, is that everyone not in their circle is a dangerous enemy that must either bend to their will, or be subject to their rights being removed. They are there to be bullied and taken advantage of, and any suffering they endure is to the enjoyment of MAGA. A recent example of that was seeing Trump and Bukele smugly laughing at the fate of the El Salvadorian man who had been wrongly imprisoned.
The official government Twitter accounts are now essentially troll accounts, in the vein of Fox News, and are all geared towards "owning the libs". A huge swathe of the US population are now completely brainwashed cult members. Empathy simply does not exist in their world, and their whole society will breakdown as a result of it.

Folk I know from where I grew up (small town Scotland) love Trump. I hesitate to call them mates any more, but they all seem to have the common characteristic of being horrible ***** too. It’s a bond of cruelty and a total inability to make the sort of decision that leads you to make your own life better.Last edited by Smartie; 29-04-2025 at 11:16 AM.

When you hear him talk, the nonsense he spouts, but the US media don’t hold him to account at all, he’s never challenged on anything he says, so he can make statements of outright lies and propaganda, and nothing is said to counter that.
The media hear aren’t much better, but I don’t think they’re quite as bad.

I hope the UK Government don’t bow to his pressure to give Turnberry an Open
It’s a beautiful course, in a lovely part of the world, but please no!

The nonsense, stupid divisive policies and lies are the point. The more emotive and incredulous the better.
Meanwhile any semblance of legitimate governance is eroded further and the oligarchs keep getting richer, faster.

If holding the Open at Turnberry turned Donald Trump into an adult who behaved normally then it would be a small price to pay and well worthwhile.
It wouldn't. He's a dick, and the whole world needs to stand together and stand up to him - even if part of that tactic involves sending Starmer as his pal to cuddle up to him nauseatingly at times and let him think he's getting his own way.
We've got "cards" - holding the open at Turnberry, trips to visit the King etc. These cards should be used to extract the absolute maximum not just for the UK but the entire world and not given away cheaply. Unless we were to be receiving an awful lot, these "Trump cards" should be kept in our pocket.Last edited by Smartie; 29-04-2025 at 06:26 PM.
