Tickets purchased for the Taylor vs Essuman fight. My first time watching boxing at a decent level in a large venue. Scottish Cup Final day which might be interesting.

Hydro is class for boxing. Mad that we got to see Inoue on a Josh Taylor undercard there. A true great

My only other experience of live boxing was at the Marriott in Glasgow which included a fight with 10 year olds with no head protection, a “three coarse (sic) meal” where the first course was orange juice, the third course was coffee, raffle tickets sold with no subsequent draw, an eight year old at the next table downing a pint, an infamous Turkey teeth The Rangers loving Championship footballer openly snorting coke the night before a game and then an auction selling “pants genuinely worn by Mike Tyson”

I was there that night. Inoue was something else, even then, quite clearly a level above.

    It was a great night.

We were in the ringside seats and the sound when Inoue was landing punches was frightening. I've attended a lot of boxing matches and never heard someone so small hit so hard.

Just noticed on the Dug-out forum that Dick McTaggart died. I actually thought he already passed away.

    One of Scotland's greatest boxers.

He must have been a fair age 89.

Found this really good interview with him. One of 18 kids, wow.

Just bought ours as well. Always a good atmosphere in the Hydro when Josh fights. Hopefully we see a Hibee winning on cup final day.

    Boxing!

So Eubank misses 2 the weight twice. First by 2lbs. Second time by 0.05lbs =22grams
    Now getting fined $500,000

Look at the state of this -

Eubank looks drained and awful at the weight. 35 he is now? Could be a long night for him tomorrow.

I think he’s playing on it a bit. He’s made this weight in his last 3 fights.

For the oldies out there this is less than an ounce. If he'd walked fast up the stairs a couple of times he'd probably have made the weight. Surely as
this was his 2nd weigh-in he will have checked his weight before turning up. Makes you wonder 1) about the accuracy of the scales which could be out by as little as 0.05% (roughly, not calculated it exactly) to account for the overweight.
Or 2) maybe Benn is right

Where's everyone at with this fight? First time round i wanted Benn before the failed drugs test

After that I wanted eubank but since the fight was announced and watching the media circuit I've sort of flip flopped. A grudging respect for Eubank and not wanting his legacy to be losing to a welterweight probably solidifies my hope for him to win but the tighter ring and fast start from Benn i think he might struggle early

I used to really like Benn, but have gone off him recently. But at the same time I absolutely cannot stand Eubank, so I’ll be hoping for a good fight would rather Benn won.

I can’t see it tho. Benn is coming up 2 weights and struggled for power at a higher weight previously. Eubank will be too big. I’m not falling for all this struggling to make weight stuff. He agreed to the fight at a weight he’s done for his last 3 fights, and every fighter cuts weight to make the limit. Hes gonna make Ł7m from this so I struggle to feel for him.

I want Eubank to smash him, no place for drug cheats in contact sports

Should have been under the ring and came out to give Nigel a RKO

Course he was. Him stepping out the car was pure WWE. Great moment and great reaction from the crowd but absolute scripted theatre. I'd be stunned if there isn't some kind of altercation between him and Nigel at ringside as well.

No idea why but I've started to lean towards Benn as the week has gone on. Part of me thinks he's the hungrier fighter, he seems focussed and I think he might still be on the up while Eubank has just started the slide.

Be compelling viewing when it finally starts.

    Same here.
Two fighters living off their fathers names, neither as good as they think they are - but it is compelling viewing

Do they (Eubanks) not hate each other?

Thought it was class that he showed up for the ring walk. Then again. Could be the usual boxing pish that they didn't get on!

    Eubank slow here so far

  31. #4080
Strange first round. Not obviously feeling each other out, both tried to look aggressive but most of those punches were thrown from miles outside of range. That was feeling each other out without explicitly doing it imo.

Benn will be the happier I reckon.
