The flare up came very suddenly.

Over the last year to 18 months I've been having periodic stomach aches, usually every three or four months, but they were generally always gone after 24 hours so didn't pay them much heed, but those could well have been the start of something brewing.

This one started late on Sunday last, and it felt the same so again i thought I'd stick it out for a day and then all would be well. It quickly turned different, with the pain radiating out towards my hips and even groin area. Excruciating. By Tuesday I could take it no more and headed in to the hospital.

Every one of the nurses and doctors scolded me for leaving it so long and said any longer and it could have got very serious. Look after your health chaps. If the slightest thing doesn't feel right in your body then get it seen to.
Sounds awful. Hope you are on the mend.

Re your last paragraph, that's all very well and good, except the standard line when I've phoned the GP recently is "piss off" or along those lines. I get the impression you'd need to be on death's door to get the GP to speak to you, at least at my practice. I dread how many illnesses are getting unnecessarily worse because of the difficulty in accessing GP services. I also don't mean when you have a wee cold or something... I had diarrhoea constantly for three weeks a few months ago and I couldn't even get a phone appointment with my GP to discuss it.
