For services to taking one of international football's powerhouse nations with the richest and most glamorous league in the world to pick players from and winning bugger all with it ..... seems a nice bloke though, I bear him no ill will.

Along with the likes of Sir Kenny Dalglish, Sir Andy Murray, Sir Ax Ferguson and Sir Chris Hoy?

Southgate did a great job as England boss. Arguably the best ever. Doesn't seem outrageous to me that he's been honoured.

With a couple of runners up achievements himself, why no Sir Craig Levein?

There will be nothing even resembling a proper revolution in the UK in this world or the next 😂😂

Back on topic, as they give out peerages and honours like confetti to all kinds of weirdos, Southgate getting a knighthood isn't that unbelievable tbh

    Absolutely.

There is no comparison between those four, each of whom contributed enormously to their sports, won multiple trophies at the pinnacle of their sports............and Southgate.

He got an OBE in 2019, I could almost understand the knighthood if he had lifted a major honour with England.

Tbf to Southgate he did win all those trophies like the err.....Toulon Tournament and the eh.....3rd place in the Nations League.

Definitely deserves to be in the same bracket as Ferguson, Dalglish and Ramsey.

He did as a pl,ayer, as a manger it was Schteve McLaren who won the League Cup with Middlesbrough, their only major trophy.

Southgate did relegate them though which is an achievement of sorts I suppose.

Don’t remember hearing of him before, sounds an exceptional person. Added his books to my reading list.

Didn’t see any mention of turning down a knighthood or the reasons why. Fair play to him!

Southgate's likeable chap who carried himself well and excited the English nation, but where's the head room for the coach who actually leads England to a glorious World Cup or Euro win ? Think Sir Tim Henman

Look at the achievements of the others you name in comparison to Southgate.

The honours are a load of pish these days but he is quite friendly with prince William and always sang GSTK proudly I suppose.

Not my point. I'm asking if they should also be 'up against the wall'.
