What a performance that was last night, a thoroughly deserved win. What a difference it’s made Doak coming through. If only we had a similar striker coming through. Hopefully Rory Wilson at Villa (former Rangers prodigy) is the next answer to a question we’ve long been asking.

Junior Hoilett won an international reprieve with Canada – and scored on his return against Suriname.

The Hibs star had missed his country’s last nine games after missing out on the Copa America squad and then failing to be called up for the three friendlies since.

But his individual form at Easter Road has been fairly good, even if the same can’t be said for the team.

And that saw Hoilett called up for the CONCACAF Nations League quarter-final against the Surinamese, who proved to be plucky opponents.

But the Hibees star popped up with a first leg winner after climbing off the bench for the final 12 minutes.

He is a very well respected member of the Canada squad and manager Jesse Marsch has been delighted that he instantly brought his personality back to the place after being away for so long.

There's also the goalkeeper question, Gordon can't go on forever.

Vente came on as a sub for Suriname in that game.

Was reading about him the other day. Out of contract next summer and not signing a new deal as wants to play first team football. Villa threatening to freeze him out and make him train alone.

If he’s as highly rated as we all hope, and it appears he might well be the real deal, hope he goes to someone like Dortmund with a pedigree for developing elite talent.

Miller starts but Boyle on the bench for Australia for tonight’s game

  12. #10511
Hopefully this is the last international break for a good while? Sure, Hibs have been c**p but the horribly stop-start nature of the season is doing nothing to help.

I don't get the point of the Nations League, plus having Boyle and Miller flying around the world so regularly isn't great. Bowie getting crocked on Scotland duty also still rankles.

Can't we just go back to the odd international friendly along with the qualifying groups for the WC and Euros?

No wonder his form has been absolutely dreadful. Watch him come off the bench and score though

if Czech beat Georgia we will be pot 3
My understanding is that if Georgia take any points off the Czechs or Estonia take anything off Slovakia we are pot 2. Georgia more than capable of taking points off the Czechs. If they win tonight they finish top of thier group and go up to league A. Fingers firmly crossed

The nations league is ‘supposed’ to replace friendlies for the most part, giving teams almost constant competitive matches, with the only friendlies being in the run up to major tournaments to allow national teams to get used to playing with one another.

What that doesn’t factor in, is when do you give fringe or up and coming players a chance, when you’re always playing competitive matches that are either qualifiers for major tournaments or nations league relegation/promotion matches

Half time 1-0 Oz courtesy of a goal in 38 seconds by Yengi.

Miller very much involved in general play and looking assured.

With the injuries he has probably been out of the game for 5 years. Could potentially have another 3 years in him.

Miller having a great game for Oz. Was decent in their last game too, right wing back in a back 5.

    Definitely his best (only) position.

Hope Gray tries a back 5 in Dundee.

Looks like our pot 2 hopes rest on Estonia as the Czechs are already 2 up on Georgia after 20 mins

Georgians clearly still annoyed about all that rain at Hampden

Miller will be all over the shop from the International break this weekend.

    The following weekend - maybe.

    FWIW I think he’s a good WB in a back 5.

    Czechia winning 2-1

Slovakia still drawing 0-0... 🤞 we're just over 20 mins from pot 2 for WC Qualifiers. Please hold on Estonia
