So as it stands the braves will be in the post season (booooo) and both the Mets and D’backs still in with a chance, but if Braves win this game then Sale is to be rested for game two of the double header apparently? I can’t say I feel sorry for Arizona fans because they’re quick to stick the boot in when the shoes on the other foot, but it’s a pretty brutal way to miss out on October baseball.

Cleveland v Yankees for the pennant. Love Cleveland. They might not have quite enough. Yankees have big bats and fast runners.

The dust has settled on my disappointment, here’s where I am with it: we’re not built for play off baseball. It’s hard to take but it’s true. The Phillies are built around power hitters and starting pitchers, this was alright during the regular season when you have mug pitchers to bat around, there’s no puddings in the post season. Bohm is a whinging wee boy and I’d trade him, no new deal for Schwarber or Realmuto if it was up to me, Turner has been a disappointment, Marsh, Hays, Sosa, Walter, Hoffman and Estevez can all go for all I care. Not good enough, last chance saloon next year for this squad.

Probably, would be nice for Soto to win successive World Series next year when he wins it with the Phillies too

Will probably watch the highlights of the world series on YouTube, just looked at Judge's postseason stats, started well but not great the last few.

A lot of teams are built this way as it brings more revenue and makes the playoffs. As you say, no bums in the postseason!

Fingers crossed for them but I can’t see it. Yankees and dodgers WS, just the way MLB wanted it?

Yup. Looks like it now. It'll be a great series whoever is in it. Baseball is electric when it gets to October. Intense!

Clevelands poor WS record is like us not winning the cup for so many years.
    So near and yet.....

I just remember the 90s and Jim Thome hoisting the ball out of the park and Vizquel the quickest short stop ever, pouncing on balls and running them down.
It was on cooncil telly then of course!

I'm more of a player guy than team, I do like Shohei, looked like a smart move to win rings/trophies.

I can't imagine the hype in New York right now and I hope it's a good series.

Forgot all about game 1 last night/this morning, opened Google chrome and there it was, watch highlights later and will make I don't spoil game 2.

  18. #257
Just watched game 2 highlights, Dodgers 2-0.

Ohtani did come off with a shoulder injury but Dodgers say not to serious and should be ok.

No team has ever come from 3-0 down to win a World Series. Tall ask indeed.

I saw that, interesting and quite surprising statistically considering there have been 119 title games and teams are generally of similar abilities. You’d think running off a 4 game winning streak wouldnt be beyond a team that’d fallen behind 3-0 at last once.

Its that eternal sporting question; is ‘momentum’ a real thing or is it is just a logical fallacy based on events converging simultaneously?

Freddie Freeman take a bow, incredible!

This Dodgers team has to be one of the best hitting teams in recent years.

Much better on the offence this game, just hit a grand slam home run and have a 5-2 lead, trying to stay awake as much as I can.

Hopefully that stupid ******* that tried to rip the ball from Betts' glove is never allowed into a baseball game again.

    What an absolute moon-howler.
It's hard to stitch my own back with these shaky hands

Teams that are 3-0, and don't get the sweep, tend to win the series in game 5. Will be interesting should the Yankees take this next one!

I understand it's a world series ball but wow, don't think I've ever seen anything like that before, both of them stupid and ejected right away.

Have seen some normal interference before but nothing like that.

I don't think I've stopped laughing since Cole didn't cover 1st in the 5th innings

    Glorious.
