Thing is ours is the first section to finish so we really have to look to win the game

I'm confused by this, ESPN still says 2 points won't be enough to qualify, because I assume the bottom two teams play each other in the final game and at least one of them will go over 2 points and overtake Scotland, who will have the worst goal difference at 2 points -4.
I assume major media outlets will have done their sums. Edit, the BBC also have Scotland as dead last in third place position, 6th of the 6 groups.

Currently that is the position, however if Scotland were to draw tomorrow, they would move to 2 points which would put them to 4th position of the 6 groups.The teams below them who could displace them from 4th would still have to play their final game, but all are not fancied in these games.

The bottom teams don't play each other though. I've checked and it can happen but a draw would leave us in a very sticky situation.

You’re right, thats irrelevant info on my part, but i dont think it’s mathematically possible for us to qualify with 2 minus four. And if it is, it requires a ridiculously large number of results to go our way, plus some heavy amount of goals. Certainly not a ‘good chance’ if qualifying with a draw.

Boy just posted on twitter that if spain italy portugal and turkey win their last games in the groups then Scotland would qualify with 2 points

I think this checks out. Also I think England hammering Slovenia by 5 goals would remove the need for Turkey and Portugal to win. Not likely though and we best not rely on this.

Slovenia are super unlucky not to have qualified by now, i fancy them to get something against England. The group thats most likely to help Scotland is the Spain Italy group, but Albania and Croatia are both capable and you need one more group for all the pieces fall into place.

I think the three groups where we can be a better 3rd placed team on 2 points are

Group C

Denmark win and England win by 5 goals leaving 3rd place on 2pts and worse GD than us.


Group B

Spain and Italy win leaving 3rd place on 1pt


Group F

Turkey and Portugal win leaving 3rd place on 1pt


We obviously only need two of these to play out, or preferably we just win :)

Admittedly it’s nice that our tournament isn’t necessarily over at FT tomorrow with a draw. Going through with a 4 goal defeat and 2 draws makes a joke of the whole group though.
