Listening to that speech, he’s a dangerous man.

    And a crook.

He can, but he can’t vote for himself.

Interesting scenario. If he is not sent to jail then it’s special treatment. Cohen has already done time for this.

If he goes to prison do the secret service men assigned to guard him as ex president have to go with him?

Just listened to the bloated crooks deranged rant, not once does he even touch on the unanimous view of the 12 jurors, some of whom his legal team helped select. He has had due process and is now hoping to bully his way out of it

You can run for president from jail, nothing in the law to stop it, the only real rules are you have to be a minimum of 35 and a US Citizen

I actually think this will just galvanise the nut jobs that support him and the nut jobs that are on the fence.

He spraffs the narrative that everyone is against him. This just supports that narrative and will get the nut jobs out to vote.

It’s got the potential to be bloody and destabilising. Look at the Capitol riots.

Not quite. According to the Washington Post the felony is the lowest rank there is and while there is a potential for a jail sentence the lack of any previous criminal convictions would make that unlikely.

As for what it means for Trump..well he’ll appeal so probably get a stay on the sentence and as others have suggested probably just firms up his support base in his favour all the more.

Importantly though polling has suggested that any conviction in this case might result in a 2-4% swing away from him…which considering how remarkably (in more ways than one!) tight the race is, that might prove crucial.

God help the US when he doesn’t win the presidential vote - not sure his supporters will stand for him being “robbed” a second time.

Will be interesting to see the first polls, he's still 4/5 favourite with the bookies to win which is nuts. Boris having his cake party in lockdown and defending his MP Owen Paterson brought him down. There's no way a PM hopeful loses multiple court cases (one against a porn star another getting a criminal conviction) gets to win an election in the UK or most countries. It just shows how divided the US is and down the conspiracy rabbit hole

The least worse candidate will win in the US, it's a sad indication of how ****ed-up their electorate system is.

He said he’s very innocent though. If he had just said he was innocent I’d not be questioning it but very has me thinking.

It often gets lost what he’s actually been convicted of by a jury of his peers.

He took campaign money, to pay off a porn star that he was ****ging so she wouldn’t go public. That exposure would have harmed his chances of becoming president in the first place.

How evangelical Christians can stand behind him with a straight face.

I don’t understand this? Biden has had a successful presidency by any metric?

Aye but he’s old, sleepy Joe, etc.

All nonsense, but that’s the MAGA narrative.

Biden needs to get out there and Trump his successes.

As a convicted criminal there are a number of countries that he can no longer visit, how could a president carry out his duties?
There is no such thing as too much yarn, just not enough time.

He will just put the barriers up (no pun intended) and make his next term even more inward looking, all whilst claiming it's to make america great again-like his last term.

Maybe the Mexicans should build a wall to keep convicted felons like him out?
