The range today wasn’t pretty and I’ve got an ambulance on standby for the morning. Glasgow Gailes on Sunday. Weirdly looking forward to it.

Played nine holes yesterday first time in ages due to the weather.

Was at top golf last week which was great fun.

Golf over the weekend was much as I expected. Dreadful. Despite decent weather it just wasn’t there. Getting old is no fun.

Hoping to be a member at lundin this time next year.

Getting sick of parkland courses and the conditions for 6 months of the year.

It is annoying. I still haven't played Dunfermline yet because every time I've been able to play its been shut or fairway mats at temp greens. I've paid for 2 months golf now and not hit a shot yet I've managed to play links courses. It's is annoying but what can they do? If they open they get slated and do more damage, if they don't, they get slated.

It's a victim of how **** the weathers been for the last few winters. This year has really got to me it just feels like it's constant rain.

I’m thinking about Joining Winterfield as a second club. As a senior it would cost me about £364 for the year. Would possibly keep me swinging thru the winter. Decisions decisions.

Come and join us! The friendliest club i have been a member of. We have a weekly Seniors comp (unofficial) on Tuesdays starting again in April. Gents and Ladies play together, which is great. Often around 50+ play. Our own Gordon Hunter is a member, though our paths haven't crossed.

Sounds great but unfortunately I’m still working although a Monday or Friday would be possible.
I’ve played the course plenty over my 40 odd years of golfing so know what I’m letting myself in for.
The only downside I see is living in West Lothian. How much would I actually use it? That’s the bigger issue.

Let me know if you do decide to join, I'm sure a few of us Hibbies could make ourselves available!

Will do. I probably won’t sign up before the end of the summer as I’ve a fairly full schedule already commuted to. Really appreciate the offer.

I had a cracking game at Dunbar today on what was probably the best day weather wise of this horrendous winter.

Course was in excellent nick which is a great credit to the greenkeeping staff as they've had to cope with almost everything over the last few months.
The proposed new development has at last got off the ground and the contractors will be on site in the next couple of weeks.

As for the standard of my golf today, well its got to be said I've played better but our very competitive fourball game finished all square with lots of "incidents" throughout. 😄

Praise indeed! Yip, the course was looking spectacular today, a real pleasure to play.

Very lucky to be a member at Dunbar.

It has been in great condition over the winter with greens fabulous.

Been a lot of sea water and debris on the course over the winter, but the green staff have done a great job, particularly as they lost the head greenkeeper to Gullane.

This though has been the wettest winter I have ever known and my other courses Craigielaw & Duddingston have struggled a bit.

Worst course I have played all winter was The Roxburghe (which I really like as a course and is a great test of golf)

Played it at the start of the month and it was absolutely sodden and IMO should never have been open.

I've just heard that wef 1st March golf courses in Spain will not be allowed to use water for irrigation purposes unless they have their own supply. The ramifications of that could have a severe effect on the Spanish golf tourism industry.

I was in Andalucia in November though not playing. The locals were complaining then about the lack of rainfall and how unseasonably warm it was. Sounds like it's not improved

Nice set of courses, joining Craigielaw this year on a 5 day membership in addition to Broomieknowe which is going through some major bunkering works and struggles a bit with the wet.

Played Craigielaw a couple of weeks back as part of the alliance and enjoyed it.

I had a similar experience to your Roxburghe one up at Fairmont

I'm knackered with sciatica so no golf for me right now.

Pre season - it couldn't have happened at a worse time.

FFS. I suffer quite a lot to GB. You might not feel like it but walking is one of the best remedies. Hope you’re better sooner rather than later.

Thanks Lex. I've a physio appointment on Friday, hopefully that will help plus the stretches I've found on You Tube.

    Quality course, enjoy.

Dunno about the cold, but when I played it I had to start the ball just about out in the sea (on the hole that plays along the coast with trees by the beach on the left) to allow for the very strong wind and my strong slice… just to keep my ball findable!

Really liked the course though. Would love to return in more manageable conditions.

It was the same yesterday. A biting cold wind and a score in the 80s. Blue hands and face like a well skelped erse last night.

Laguna Old course and North Course. There was another we were going to play whose name escapes me but it’s closed.

Haven’t hit a ball since August because of sciatica. Finally got an appointment with a neuro physio (this is with nhs staff occy health as well!!) who without even looking at my back told me I’ve damage to my S1 and needed an mri.
Good news was she said not to worry about it go and play golf as it wouldn’t do anymore damage? Just keep to the stretches and pain relief until the mri

Anyone know of any links courses in either East Lothian or Fife that doesn’t have a huge waiting list?
