Wee bit off topic but did you know that Bold St has been subject of supposed time slip incidents a couple of times?
I remember walking along Bold Street and seeing a newspaper board stating Everton had won a cup, must have been a time slip or was it………..

Well this is an unexpected rabbit hole I've found myself down.

Fascinating reading and more than a bit freaky.

Yep, my sister in law gave me one for my birthday (65), 2x3 course meal with cocktail each. Be aware if you add a coffee to that they charge just over £5 for service charge, got stung for that on Monday.

Been a few times here for work lunches etc (albeit not since before covid!) and agree with the above. Nice place and good food, never had any complaints and good to hear it’s continuing in that form.

Me and the missus went to El Castillo at Newhaven Harbour, Mexican place that’s not long opened.

Food was great, restaurant was pretty busy with very good service and a nice atmosphere. I had two courses and two pints, she had three courses and a juice and a cocktail for a mere sixty quid. Will 100% be back soon
Was at this restaurant tonight. Excellent food and excellent value. Will definitely be going back.

Amarone is part of the same group that owns Cafe Andaluz, Chakkoo, Di Maggios and Cadiz along with a few higher end bars in Glasgow.

They are a success because they do everything well. You aren't likely to get the best meal ever but it will be solid. A good Scottish success story and they are passionate about what they do.

Went to Brittania Spice after a trip to the Leith Distillery for a tasting and we all fancied a curry after, someone described the Brittania Spice as a'local institution', was highly recommended. We arrived at 7:30pm Friday night, huge restaurant with 100+ seats, absolutely empty and stayed that way throughout the meal. Mixed tandoori for 3 took about 45 mins to appear and was a tiny amount of food for £30, the main courses were just about acceptable but with all the good indian food in Edinburgh it really was terrible value for over £50 a head for 2 courses and a couple of beers each.

Yeah we visited it a few years back and the food was class, Im sure they lost a lot of their good staff due to an immigration raid so probably didnt replace them with the same quality

The Broughton on Broughton Street. Excellent food. Got the sriracha crispy chicken to start, beef for the main.

Only thing I found was the dessert options were limited but the food was brilliant. Not far from ER so good for a pre/post match meal

Paprika Delight in Oldham was tremendous last night.

I was at the Port of Leith distillery last night.

Really enjoyed it. We did the tour then went for food and drinks afterwards. Good cocktail list, food menu is small but decent and the whisky list is huge and pretty reasonably priced. Your standard bottlings start at £4 a nip, the most expensive was £56 I think but the average was between a fiver and a tenner. Beer was all from Pilot, an IPA, lager, stout and sour. All £6 a pint. I had an Arbroath Smokie Scotch egg with a side of chips and it was spot on.We had 4 mains, 4 sides, at least 4 pints each, 2 whiskies each and 2 cocktails each and it came in at £276 including a 12.5% service charge. I thought that was more than fair for what we had. I'd recommend.

What a small world, I was there last night too!
We did the tour which was OK then hit the bar about 20:45. Had a few small plates and various drinks, nothing to complain about. The bar has a decent vibe about it (considering they've only been open a few weeks) and I reckon it will be rammed when the lighter nights come for the views on show.
My only observation/recommendation about the set-up is that the toilets are on the floor below. Eventually, someone will stumble on those stairs (although they're not quite Wetherspoon-esque).

Went to Chaakooh for lunch today. On Lothian rd across from odeon. superb lunch deal and food was excellent. Definitely going back. Very similar to dishoom.

    It's amazing.

The meat is good but don't miss out on the salad and sides bar. Honestly it's not like limp lettuce and grated carrots. It's absolutely unreal.

Food is excellent but drinks are a tad overpriced
Over £4 can of coke, £6.90 for a cider & £8 for a pint of Estrella

My favourite restaurant by a mile. The truffle parmesan fries are lovely and it is just an absolute meat feast. I can’t wait to go again. You’ll love it.
