How did he get access to his ugly puss mugshot and permission to use it publicly? He seems to have total control over the powers that be in the USA, suggesting he will probably be the next President.

    If it's any help

    He's 1.90 m and claims to weigh 97 kilos.

I'm 1.82m and weigh 85 kilos... and I look about half his size.
    Skinny runt.

I'm 1.83 and 105kg, my boxing weight was 81kg in the 80's and I've put on nearly a kg per year since I stopped boxing. The fact that beer in Germany is considered to be a vital foodstuff hasn't helped.

215lbs is hilarious. He’d need a build like Stephen merchant to be that weight for his height.

I think it's the concrete and scaffolding that holds his "quiff" in place that weighs 215lb.

To prove it, here's his social media post from the weekend:

I am pleased to report, for those that care, that I just won the Senior Club Championship (must be over 50 years old!) at Bedminster (Trump National Golf Club), shooting a round of 67. Now some people will think that sounds low but there is no hanky/lanky. Many people watch, plus I am surrounded by Secret Service Agents. Not much you can do even if you wanted to, and I don't. For some reason, I am just a good golfer/athlete - I have won many Club Championships, and it is always a great honor!'

I saw clips of Mitch McConnell looking extremely unwell where he simply stops functioning for a long spell at a press conference. Wouldn't surprise me if Trump took the piss out of him.

Just saw that. Definite need for an age limit for public office in the US.

Think that’s the third occasion where he’s frozen at a press conference. Detest his politics but it’s horrible thing to see happen to someone.

From the (multiple) clips of when this has happened, the guy clearly looks senile and shouldn't be in politics.

You'd think at least his family, if not party members, would be persuading him to retire and just take care of himself.

I'm not convinced about that either - I've seen him interviewed a few times in the recent past, and he's lucid enough. I think he's too old, suffering some kind of medical / neurological issue that needs checked more urgently than seems to be happening, and needs to retire, but I'd hesitate to say he was senile.

Also, he's a wrong 'un. However, he seems to be seen by some of the more old-style Republicans as necessary to put some kind of brake on the progress of the outright nutters in the party. Not sure to what extent that's happening, or how much worse it could actually be , but it's an opinion.

My guess that he is senile, or more accurately has 'dementia' (accepting that I may be wrong) , is based largely on my experience of family members that have gone through similar phases where they appear to be lucid, then suddenly change to appear confused/disoriented

This a good article that describes typical symptoms.

You might be right; we don't know. I suppose I was being a bit pedantic about him 'clearly' looking senile. It's a possible explanation for the kind of 'absences' that he's been suffering, but there are other possibilities. My first thought was that he's suffering after effects of a stroke.
He also has some kind of infirmity as a result of polio as a child, and has had a number of reported falls , and a recent spell in hospital following a head injury after falling.
Anyway, whether dementia or something else, I think we're both agreed that it's time for him to call it a day.

It is but there is a simple answer - he retires. No one is forcing him up there.

I read a suggestion that he's clinging on as if he resigns, the process for selecting his replacement involves the state Governer making the final decision from a shortlist. And guess what party the Governor is from? Yup, he's a Democrat.

I've just read a report in the New York Times saying the Republicans, who have a supermajority in the Kentucky congress, changed the state's law a couple of years back, so the majority get to select 3 candidates from their own party, who the governor then has to pick from for election.
And McConnell voted for the change... So he's made sure that isn't happening.
Maybe he's just one of those people who cling on because they think they're indispensable. Maybe he genuinely thinks he can rein in the lunatics.

He's one of the lunatics though. He believes the same things as Trump. He just goes about it with a little more tact but the end result is the same.

I was talking more about the growing populist / conspiracy theorist Republican faction in government than Trump, who - even if he did disagree with him on policy - is uncontrollable. McConnell's definitely not a good guy, and he carries the distinction of being, perhaps, the one person who could have prevented all of this nonsense via the impeachment trials. He's somebody who apparently hates Trump, knows exactly who he is and the dangers he presents to the country, has publicly blamed him for the Jan 6 riot, could have stopped him in his tracks and didn't. Twice.

I struggle to get my head around the various senior figures who have spoken out against Trump, written books about how unsuitable for the job he is, blamed him for the insurrection attempt and in some cases given evidence against him... yet have said they would still vote for him if he is the candidate.
