Roxburghe yesterday. Decent front nine but the back nine is tough so predictably buckled.

    Great course though.
Played it earlier in the year.. Highly recommend a buggy

Scotscraig today. Fair to say there’s nothing much green about it.

Was that in the Golf In Scotland stableford?

Definitely! We played it last autumn but had a nightmare with the buggy’s getting stuck due to the soft ground. Decided to walk this time but will definitely go buggy again.

Yes it was. Well run events. First time at them last year. Great value for money.
As an aside I played Auchterarder on Monday in a National Club Golfer top 100 tour event that was part of a Perthshire swing. £60 for coffee and bacon roll 1 stableford round off the white tees followed by dinner. Decent value too., throw in a stableford win and a £250 Taylor made voucher even better. I’d do that again.

Played in the GIS events last year at Scotscraig, Longniddry, Ladybank and Dundonald. This year is Downfield, Duddingston, Longniddry and Turnberry RTB. Really enjoy them and great value way to play excellent courses.

Agreed. I was Ladybank, Broomieknowe Longniddry and Dundonald. Last year.
It’s Scotscraig, Blairgowrie, Lanark and Dundonald this year. Stevie and Gary do a great job. Gary a big Hibby too.

I played in them last year too. It's great value for money to play some top courses.

I played Largs, Carrick, Downfield, Panmure and Castle Stuart all for £300!!!

Couldn't manage it this year but will definitely be back.

I really enjoyed The Roxbughe today. The course was in pristine condition in preparation for a Stephen Gallacher Foundation event over the next 3 days.

We teed off in a three at 9.15am and were round in 3 hours 25 mins - not bad in a stifling heat for 3 "getting aulder " guys.

My golf was a mixed bag - 1 over to the turn but I had a bunker disaster and hit a couple of shermans in the back nine so I think I'll end now.

    😆

Down there for the seniors next month. Hope my game arrives in time. Don’t you be mentioning Sherman’s again Fella.

Played Muirfield last night. The 13th hole par 3 is possibly my favourite par 3 in the whole world. So difficult into a wee east breeze. Fabulous.

Walked it “inside the ropes” as it were when my laddie played the Faldo series back in the day but never played it. Going back a goodly number of years but minted. Enjoy.

    Oh I'm no playing sadly.

Trying to get round as many of the top 100 as possible in the next few years, it seems Loch Lomond would kill that accomplishment stone dead stuck at 99.

Pity. It’s on my bucket list too but sadly I think it’s not going to happen either.

Yes, I've been lucky enough to play it twice under the Scottish Golf Scheme which at the time offered each member course the chance to ballot their members and allow them the chance of a fourball over Loch Lomond. The green fees were discounted to a very acceptable rate.

My verdict? - it was without a doubt the best inland course I've ever played and ever likely to play.

It's a pity that it's now so difficult to access for the everyday golfer.

Played Baberton Seniors today. Bit of a Hibs fest. Graham Harvey looks like he’s gonna win and currently top of the pile. Bumped into Alex Miller too who was also in the field. Of course I was also there.

Playing a Seniors tie at Liberton last week, I managed a hole in one on 11. Second one in just over a year with none in the previous 50 years
    Funny old game
Helped me to victory on the 19th after being 3 down after 4

Congratulations and thanks for the encouragement. I got my first last year after 60+ years, so looks like I can look forward to another this year. Or does it not work like that?

Isn't Ardfin the most difficult one - think its for multi millionaires only.

There's a guy at our club attempting to play all of the Scottish courses he recently hit the 550 mark but he told me Ardfin may be the killer blow

Anyone can play Ardfin. You just have to stay on the estate. It does cost a whopping £1500 to stay over plus your £500 per day green fee. You just email and book.

Think it’s Skibo Castle you’re thinking of, ridiculously private millionaires playground.

    That's some itinerary!!!

I'm having a mid season break from competitive golf due to a form slump. Yesterday I went to the Braids for a video lesson which identified a few things I need to work on but thankfully no major surgery is required at this stage. 😅
