Hopefully he can add some value as Hibs ladies recently haven’t just stagnated but probably regressed. Other teams have progressed (Hearts to name one) and the head start we had on them has been wasted.

he could start by poaching the hearts coach ;)

91+1 a fantastic save from parker-smith from a Hunter header denies Hibs an equaliser

This will be the first time we've failed to beat Hearts in an entire season. Sick to death of Dean Gibson, by any standard he's been a total failure as coach.

Have Hearts ever finished above us in the Women's league. Such a pity we procrastinated and let all the advantage we had disappear, particularly so with the speed Women's sport is growing.

Tbf it’s only the last couple of years they’ve put any effort into their women’s side.

That makes it worse in some ways. We had years of a head start and took too long bringing the Women under the same umbrella as the Men's team and then were too slow going professional when it was obvious it would hurt us and women's sport was booming. We need to get it right as Women's football will be a more and more important part of clubs in teh years to come

I don't think it would have mattered what Hibs did other than if they had poured money into the Women's team and given there are still few paying customers it would be an expensive loss leader.
The top 3 clubs in Scotland are fully professional and well ahead of the rest. Hibs and Hearts have a hybrid model of full time and part time players. Had Hibs reacted sooner, as you say, then they would probably still be slightly ahead of Hearts although injuries to key players have hampered us badly this season and I think we will be back to challenging them for 4th next season. Aberdeen are probably the club that need to improve their team most given their standing in the mens game.
Pound for pound I think Brian Graham is doing the best managerial job in the league at Partick Thistle and would be a good replacement for Gibson when the time comes.

Aberdeen will always struggle simply due to not being in the central belt. They have much less talent to choose from and even less chance of getting older talent in from other teams. Their team is very young right now a a few more key players are leaving this season. They are doing well to stay up.

When you say women's sport 'was' booming. Do you have any figures for Hibs women's team that merited significantly greater investment than was actually made at the time? Was there money available to invest in the women's side and we refused to do use it? Or were/are we simply living within our means?

Hearts have benefactors who put money into it. Not sure we can match that currently.

Not specifically for Hibs but I have went from photographing Women's rugby with family and friends supporting to crowds of 1000s at the Dam Health. There is growth in top level women's sport and that will start dropping down to clubs at some point. Football isn't all about money and for me the community and representing everyone in it is what I want Hibs to achieve. That is best achieved with successful teams that everyone can enjoy and aspire to.

I was pretty caveman towards women's sport 5 years ago. That has changed as I can see how quickly the quality of play has improved. Opportunity is what has held women's sport back and for me I think a successful women's team would be good for the club and may bring in more supporters to the men's game too. I don't view it as a financial transaction though but acknowledge money will always play a part. I'm going to try and get along to Meadowbank more often next year. I need to start practicing what I preach more often

Meadowbank is an awful stadium for watching football now. Watched 5 or 6 games there and the match day experience is awful. 3 or 4 rows of seats with a barrier in the way. Feel sorry for any club trying too build a fan base around that. Ideally they could go back to sharing with Spartans but not sure if that bridge is burnt.

Obvs Spartans comes with it's own problems. The only thing really going for Meadowbank is the location.

I think one of the things that men need to get there heads round about the finance given to woman's football is that it will ultimately bring more supporters to watch the mens teams as more females become interested in football.
The number of male supporters attending professional games remains pretty constant but there is massive scope for increasing the number of females who attend games and their attendance will in turn bring greater revenue into clubs. Clubs realise this and for that reason are now embracing the female game more than ever before.

Most rangers games get a couple of hundred. It’s only the big games that get a few more. Hibs / Hearts / Spartans don’t not normally have much more than 100

Just under 10000 at the Celtic v City. Almost free and larger grounds is the only way to get these numbers. The game isn’t going to magically get more fans for normally games at rented small grounds.

I wish the club would do a dual season ticket. Maybe £50 more to add the Women's games or even the full price but the ability to pay with the interest free option.

the extra use for games at ER would be really bad for the pitch i think, and on that topic that pitch at parkhead tonight looks great to play on

Having 3 teams miles ahead of everyone else isn’t great.

How long City can keep this up next few years ? It’s going to end up like Mens game just 2 horse race and everyone bored senseless.

Ok Glasgow City have dominated the league for a long time but rest of the league was closer - but obviously now the quality is better - no team outside these 3 will win the league for a long time.

Hearts / Hibs will just play for 4th every season.

Rest will continue to make up the numbers.

A situation with 3 teams fighting for the title with weeks to go is refreshing. And certainly better than anything we get in the mens game.

There is no reason City can’t continue to press the other two. They strengthened last season after losing out to Rangers and are clearly a well run club. There is only so much investment Rangers / Celtic can make that will make a difference. They are never going to offer the wages that the top world players are now getting, and the current salaries aren’t light years away from what Hibs are paying. 20k v 30k.

Unlike the mens game I’ve no real issue with who wins the league and these teams for me don’t have the same back story and tribalism that the men’s team do. (despite some people trying to recreate that). All that matters is the product improves and we get more fans. What the top 3 are doing will only help that to happen.
