Depends on who's saying it I suppose. Although if someone told me they had bought a luxury pen and I found out it was a 5er I'd think they were a nitwit
Pens can be sold as "luxury" purely down to their design, despite being made from cheap materials. So by saying "luxury" rather than "expensive", it allows the media to push the idea that they are expensive, even if they're not. Same with "designer" pots.

Your probably are. Both are true £700 for pens and thousands for necklaces for work is lavish as is being able to give loans of 100k. But the second part is true also, they are in the top 1% of earners, so I'm sure they can afford without having kids
The accounts don’t happen to show a 600k stationery bill do they?

How many of those pens would be gifts from foreign dignitaries. She better hope she's declared them or.....Attachment 26684
None according to the paper as no pens have been declared as gifts, not that I'm bothered about what pen she uses. They were both on over 100k before and I guess it's the tool of her trade and probably last a lifetime

Also being reported that she spent a small fortune on Caran D’ache crayons.

They were a gift to Humza and Shona for when they start their Big Bumper Book of Policies and Budgets.

Or is it just the Media's total obsession with it and the way it's being presented (scary Sim cards, pots & pans, etc) that's becoming more and more bizarre?
It's a complete farce, especially when you consider billions have been trousered by the Westminster government and their mates.

Michelle mone posting selfies of herself on a boat bought with millions she basically chored from the taxpayer and police Scotland are dicking around chasing the snp trying to find fancy pens and pots & pans. Maybe it's to cook the cheesy pasta they took as evidence from the SNP canteen.

I think they might be going too far and at some point the Scottish electorate will smell the coffee. How much did Boris Johnson's wallpaper cost again?

It never fails to amaze me how some pro-SNP or pro-independence supporters continually resort to their comfort zone of calling Scottish people stupid.

Way to go with winning over the majority, guys

As a long time Yes supporter I find it infuriating. It’s part of the reason support for Yes has stagnated, we just antagonise those we wish to win over.

Well, you for a start. I remember calling you out about it just after the referendum. You and another foreign-based poster whose username was ‘retired’ were particularly vitriolic and vociferous about those ‘stupid’ enough to vote No.

And I’ve made the point I made in my post several times over the years, as have others. Sometimes at you, but there are others too. All too ready to blame the Scottish public for not accepting a flawed prospectus. Never ready to stop and think why you were rejected in the first place, without the comfort blanket of blaming a Big Bad Other.

So I thought I would make the point again, when I saw your post about Scottish voters needing to smell the coffee. That metaphor is usually defined as suggesting naivety or self-delusion. In this case you seem to be suggesting we are stupid for accepting the police investigation as lustified.

If you think the majority, the voters who said ‘No thanks’ are staunch unionists then you are making my case for me.

The best of it is... this is all about the alleged diverting funds from SNP supporters.. its still nothing to do with taking funds from the electorate, which some folks seem to be trying to make equivalent to PPE spending taking funds from all of us ... etc
(That's not to say both things are wrong!)

Aye, not to mention that the average price of a Sheila Fleet necklace is closer to £200 than £2000.

It's also highly likely to be the case that the pen was a gift from a visiting dignitary.

Let's face it, in the 1950s when the bic biro was launched they were considered a luxury. 😉

If the pens were a gift they weren't declared but I doubt that, she would have bought them. Plus the paper showed the two necklaces and both were around 2k. It's not a big deal as she's wealthy and can spend her money on what she likes

With every new leak from the investigation, it’s starting to look political. While the SNP have to observe silence on the issue while it’s an open case, the police seem happy to detail their every move in the media.

Have the police actually 'leaked' much? News of the arrests were in the public domain, while the high profile police visits to both the Murrells and Mr Murrell's mother were hardly going to pass unnoticed. If anything, for an investigation which has been under way for as long as this one has it seems very little detail has been released.

If that's the case, and bear in mind, it's only something that has been mentioned on here today AFAIK then SG applies the same rules to the FM as the Ministerial Code.

So, it becomes property of the Government. It can be kept if valued at less than £140, any higher than that then she has to pay the difference out her own pocket. Of course if she is a bit short then I imagine she can ask Peter for help.....

EDIT - Forgot to say, any such gifts should be published, it will be on SG's website somewhere, if it happened and was declared.

There's leaks somewhere and if it's the police there should be an enquiry. Wings boy was saying 2 days before that Colin Beattie was the next to be arrested in the next few days. Today's stuff is either press lying or a problem with the police

Do these types of gifts come with price tags? Would you declare a pen?
