You know how they say you should never hit “send” on an e-mail when you’re angry?

It strikes me as something someone might submit whilst they’re angry (see my posting history in the immediate aftermath of derby defeats) before they’ve had a chance to calm down, think about what they’re trying to say and write it down in a coherent fashion.

It probably appeals most to the “permanently raging” demographic who relate to the sentiment.

I take the "permanently raging" tone as a given from that organ.

I don't think it's heartfelt most of the time though, it's a clever journalististic tone hoping to transfer its tone to the reader. Hacks hack words together.

If his contract doesn't have any reference to a social media policy then the BBC doesn't have a leg to stand on. If it does then they have a problem. I suspect there is ambiguity with freelancers as opposed to employees.

That shouldn't be taken seriously as he's probably just like other high profile presenters, some of whom have done dreadful things, and the content is obviously lefty, celebrity, virtue signalling to enhance his own feelings about himself which the British people are sick of so we shouldn't speak out about the politics surrounding vulnerable people or climate change as its just trying to look "right-on", some would have us believe.

You weren't directing this question at me, but I would be supportive of his right to speak. I'd be hugely disappointed in him, if he praised the proposed legislation, but I'd support his right to his views. There's any number of people that I previously followed who have disappointed me with their political views recently - Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Roger Daltrey for starters.

I know what you mean. Van Morrison is a brilliant but troubled guy. Daltrey has the puzzlement of a multi millionaire who really can't see what the issue is about. But Clapton has had such an easy ride, doubling down on it for years with no apparent consequence.

Iirc, Linekar was pro-brexit and was full of congratulations towards Boris Johnson, a known liar, on his election to PM. I don't agree with those views but don't think that sums him up as a person.

I think the income disparity in the UK is awful. But the story was spun as if it was a scandal. In fact it's an observation on him being rich. I think it's legitimate to question why people are so wealthy. The next question is what, if anything, you do about it?
