    This is crazy!!

At the top the Tory Government's comments on why ID shouldn't be used for Social Media.

At the bottom the Tory Government's comments on why ID should be used for voting.

I don’t often comment on the holy ground, although I do read it often and speaking personally, find a lot of learns and find my thoughts challenged by the debates on here. I just thought I’d add something that’s happened this evening.

the lot in charge in UK Parliament are quite overt in their behaviour and rhetoric, I’d never met someone out in the world who actually subscribed to their kind of thinking. I’ve met people who are ‘right of centre’, who whilst I disagree with on a political level (left of centre), there’s not huge jumps between, and they’ve been positive about things like the nhs.

I’ve been having a Facebook argument this evening (I never get drawn into these things but this person is beyond the pale), who is essentially arguing that West Lothian councils decision to remove free electric car charging is wrong and that other services should be cut to continue to fund his ability to charge his electric car for free. I politely asked him to expand on that point. We’ve been through several strawman deflections by him, he’s now exposed himself enough to be almost singing from the Rees-mogg hymn sheet. I suppose part of me always took that kind of attitude to be from rich, Etonian-esque types who were brought up to believe themselves above the rest, never seen it in someone I could pass on the street or in theory work beside. Just wow

Starmers best move is to get involved in nothing for the next 2 years. The tories need a miracle or a Labour implosion

I think you've had an encounter with one of the newly entitled? If the party in power and its allies can fill their boots at someone else's expense why not him?

Either that of you've scratched the surface to reveal the selfish **** that was there all along.

The labour government brought in the 5 day working week for miners in 1947. His dad probably had a second family he seen at the weekend or just spent it hiding away from his bigoted arse of a son

In the 70s working 7 days a week down t'pit my dad grew veg and kept chickens in our garden. That was our foodbank. My dad voted Tory for the 1st time in 2019. He will again at the next election. A great man. Comments turned off to send the left in to meltdown. But u can like

Stephen Flynn calls Johnson a liar. Laura Kuenssberg thinks that's "quite a charge".
Flynn says Brexit has been "an unmitigated disaster".
Tory MP Wendy Morton (who?) says "... vaccines!"

Redcar was Mo Mowlam's old seat and was pretty much solid Labour until 2019. It's a small Tory majority and all things being equal, should return to Labour by a healthy margin at the next GE.

Jacob Young knows he is going to be exited. I posted about Jonathan Gullis the other day, saying that these dead Tories walking are just going to ramp up the rhetoric, ramp up the division and rancour and indulge their overreaching egos and self-entitlement. They have nothing to lose.

I'm planning on booking the following day off work, getting in food and drink, and making a night of it. Did the same in 2017 when Theresa May's gamble almost completely backfired and it was great fun.

Inflation 4.6% higher for the poorest households than the richest. Brutal and due to a higher % of wages going to food and gas

No matter what party gets in charge the rich will always get richer and the poor poorer, that was proved when Blair and Labour came to power, not that it was ever in doubt.

New Labour made child poverty and pensioner poverty one of their priorities. That's why more than a million children and more than a million pensioners came out of poverty.

Other policies like the National Minimum Wage, Sure Start and big, increased funding for education, including higher education were solid policies that would reduce poverty in the long-term too.

I think a lot of people don't remember or were too young when the NMW was brought in. The Tories and a lot of voices in business predicted catastrophe. It didn't happen.

Sure Start yielded huge benefits, especially in socially deprived areas. Since 2010 it has been 'death by a thousand cuts' thanks to the Tories.

Seems bizarre we never had a minimum wage, Rees Mogg and his Victorian values would have loved that

Tories government are constantly playing to a small minority. The nation is turning less interested in immigration, there's been a number of polls similar.

Asked if those organising protests outside hotels against asylum seekers should be described as "far right", Suella Braverman tells GB News that asylum seekers are putting "really serious pressures on communities and saying so does not make you racist or bigoted."
