I can neither confirm nor deny because I simply don't know Fred.

Being frank you don't really know either, you have read posts on here where for all you know the posters might not know either.

I have searched the official website and although there are several articles on the players signing they don't state when the contracts run out.

Just because Tam, Bert and Wul have all posted things doesn't make them true.
Search the Evening News archive for the October article with Josh where he himself states that his current contract ends at the end of this season

There has been no advice that that position has changed and pretty sure that when Josh does sign an extension…as I hope he would..that it would be considered worthy of reporting.

I said it had been discussed on here…..I did not say That was why it was true…….that came from Josh’s interview.

Thanks for the advice about not believing everything that’s posted on here as being true, but I kind
Of figured that out already, thanks.

I will have a look for it Fred, thanks for the reference.

Shouldn't matter anyway because Josh was telling his team mates (allegedly) he was signing for West Ham United for 1.2 million in January

Would prefer to see Laidlaw get a chance in the first team over utter dross like McKirdy.

Any truth about Ethan Laidlaw not been offered an extension to his contract that runs out in the summer😳
He has been offered a contract extension but won’t be signing on the terms been offered I believe. Hibs have offered a contract but get the feeling it’s to cover themselves so we get compensation opposed to offering improved terms to actually show we are desperate to keep the laddie and see a future for him which is a surprise to me.

Lol from what I’ve seen of Josh I don’t think he’s anywhere ready for the first team at the moment.

I think that is poor from Hibs.

Does the compensation fee not get based upon what the player was offered?

Funny because him and Garry were in the 3 sisters a few weeks ago telling people he was off to Arsenal in the summer (allegedly)

I’m not sure how it’s calculated mate, I thought the new contract had to be equal or more than the previous but that may not be the case. Strange one all round as musnt think he has a long term future which is a surprise

When we let Conner Young go to Rangers earlier in the season it was quoted that we had other young strikers that were valued more and it would give them a better chance to break into the first team
O Conner and Laidlaw were the two strikers it was supposed to benefit
Will be interesting to see what happens
The worry fir me is we have spent a lot on promising players to be developed in a mythical B team Mostbof it has been wasted snd no one looks at this stage like they will break into the first team
So L J is rightly moving as many on as he can But some are on longer contracts and may not be able to be moved on So young players in Development team may now suffer as we are struggling possibly to give them desks that would keep them at the club

I saw maybe 10 under 18 games last season and I've been to the two European games this season.

I know all the players won't make it in Hibs first team but I would think Ethan Laidlaw is one of the likeliest if not the most likely. Others I think have an outstanding chance are Oscar and Jacob McIntyre, Murray Johnstone and Murray Aiken.

We lost Connor Young to Rangers at the end of the season but he has done very little there to argue with Hibs decision to let him go.

I would be appalled if Hibs just let Ethan Laidlaw go without a fight, in fact I just can't see it happening and common sense has to prevail.

I agree with everything you have said and those are the lads I think have a future. Young McIntyre is the one I believe they have big hopes for, was speaking to Big Daz and Gareth evens and they were raving about him and think he had a right chance. Laidlaw looked good in the European games I saw and surprised he’s not been given more a chance at first team level. As you say hopefully they reach an agreement

Conor young was just as much our decision as it was us "losing him". The club figured he was the least likely to go far out of the 3 young strikers, weve also got a few younger lads that look good too, so they allowed him to look elsewhere as to not stall his development and stall the other 2. O'Connor and Laidlaw are far far better players, only thing Young has on them is physical stature.

Wouldn’t say “far, far better” especially not with Josh v Connor. Young is a terrific finisher and more of a number 9 than Josh but they all have their positives and negatives.

I agree with Scoopyboy Laidlaw has a real chance at going far in the game.

I mean technical ability, not where they currently are overall as players, Josh has a way to go yet but he's much more technically gifted than Connor, so it made sense to stick with him and Ethan imo.

Will point out Ethan Laidlaws twitter likes are an interesting look. Liking a comment saying something along the lines of "keep banging them in, they can't ignore you forever". If for whatever reason there isn't a deal on the table for him, that's shocking.

I believe 100% there is a deal on the table, my understanding is it's not anywhere near acceptable.

This sticks in my throat when I hear figures that some of our more recent signings are on.

I heard similar, and got told discussions are still ongoing as he's not happy with the current deal. (should say from what I've heard he's not asking for anything mental, just something reasonable).

Although I said on twitter it wasn't all black and white as him not being offered anything and got told it is as black and white so not sure what to believe.

Hibs were always letting Young go therefore it was a bonus to get £50k for him. He won't come back to bite us I'm sure. Laidlaw is a standout every time I see him, Ive seen him play at least a dozen times this season. It's frightening to think he can still play u18s next season. He's the one we need to keep.

Given that the McIntyre brothers have signed decent length deals and we all want to see Laidlaw signing who else would you prioritise.

Maybe they should stop going to the three sisters if they want to be next level professionals.

Garry was telling our table in hospitality they value Josh at £3m
So Josh wants £5k a week but would settle for £3.5k.

Should have asked him if Kevin Nisbet was on that kind of money at 18 at Patrick Thistle 👍 hard work, dedication and proving yourself gets those contracts Garry - oh and a fool and his money are soon parted 👍

Our youngsters will probably be on pretty low wages and must look at the likes of Tavares, Kenneh and Melkersen and compare what they earn with what they (allegedly) earn and think WTF. Is this a case of us offering Laidlaw and O'Connor a relative pittance compared to laddies mentioned and they're thinking, **** signing that? I can't see any info on the length of Laidlaw's contact online, but I'm surprised it was only a two year deal. He signed his first professional contact in Feb 2021, when he was 16.

Garry needs to butt out and leave contract conversations to those that are not emotionally involved. Surely young O'Connor has a proper agent?
