Porto, Hickey and Hendry looked solid - always backing each other up when necessary. When you consider we have Robertson, Tierney, Patterson, McKenna, McTominay, the defensive side of our team is pretty stacked.

    Midfield isn't bad either!

Ach, I hate that feeling of positivity around the national side - it's usually followed by that feeling of being bitten in the arse...
Madness, as you know, is a lot like gravity. All it takes is a little push.

Hard fought draw, had to concentrate for the full 90 mins as Ukraine were guaranteed to have a right go tonight, well done.

Pat Nevin gushing about Ryan's performance. Sportsound at half time at their usual concentrating on Ryan and being critical about his positional sense, cannae help themselves.

Hopefully never need to see McTominay in defence ever again, he's a midfielder and has been very good there recently, that's where he should play.

Was actually surprised how well Hendry and Porto played together. Thought both were excellent Porto slightly better cause he's a Hibs fan 😂

Porto was outstanding, many are surprised the lad is class, never any doubt, he is Scotland Captain material with a bit of steel about him.
The wee hertz **** was good as well I have to admit, Henry pretty good, all around a good result, with the Englanders getting demoted or is it relegated I can never be sure nowadays.

When’s the play off final? Seen June 23 mentioned online but also March 2024. Surely can’t be as late as March 2024

We really could do with another forward or two emerging over the next year or two. Probably the area we lack depth most

Guess it’s due to them waiting to see how the qualifying goes? Seems odd waiting 18 months for a play off final which takes place a couple of months before the tournament. Still can’t get my head around the schedule of all of this

We have to go through the qualifying competition ourselves, so we're not "waiting" for the play off.

We could still qualify without needing the play off.

VAR is ****ing guff, get given a pen that was rightly not given so should have been given a corner, nah drop ball to Ukraine
Because the referee blew for the penalty before it went out of play.

Could that ross stewart be decent for us? Probably on a par with dykes , but a more natural goalscorer

I think its a great development from the meaningless international friendlies... now the 'big' countries cant take their foot off the gas and still expect easy routes into euros... look at England.. they will now get a POT 1 team in their group and so you can easily fail... jeopardy is a necessary part of football to be interesting..

or you could have the closed club American franchise system

The only thing I can think of that would result in a drop ball is if he’s technically awarded the penalty before the ball went out for the corner. If that’s the case, why he doesn’t do the cop out that all the other refs do and award the corner and let VAR award the penalty, I don’t know.
Because he didn't cop out. He blew for a penalty immediately.

Absolutely agree it’s been a breath of fresh air. Still find it confusing. Finals in June next year look to only involve the group A teams which is what was confusing me

Thing that jumps out to me , is with a bit of luck we could end up with a group A league of teams that aint much stronger than some if the teams we could have in group B.. All about the luck of the draw i suppose
