You are insinuating that folk that wish to continue to wear face coverings in public are not living in the real world. It’s not that difficult to understand that folk might be a bit pissed with comments like that is it?This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
This despite the powers that be all over the world that having far more information on the matter are making the decisions they are making. They obviously aren’t doing it for the popularity. There’s a reason for it.
I’m not really tempted to listen to anyone on a football message board over folk with the details and expertise but reserve the right to be offended.![]()

All research is done in a lab where they are properly fitted and not touched and also brand new. Real world masks are taken out of pockets. Plus the vast majority of people catch it in the home where there is no masks.
Although Germany has ffp2 masks and still no help and Japan has masking indoor and outdoor and still no help

If it wasn't for lockdowns pre vaccines and then vaccines themselves things would have been brutal, 500,000 dead
@andrew_lilico
Looks like ~90% of people have now had Covid at least once. Remember those analyses telling us that only 20% of people would ever get it? Yeah...not so much... https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/cases?
90% of us getting it over a 12 week period. At 1% death rate, that's >500k dead even with full hospital treatment. Even with only a 5% hospitalisation rate that'd be 2.5m people needing hospital care over the period.
Doesn't even bear thinking about

If the pandemic is still going on now, then low deaths this year means actually the total excess deaths from the pandemic is falling in the uk.

The Continuous Mortality Investigation (CMI) has published its weekly Mortality Monitor. It covers deaths to 4 March (week 9).
There were 3% fewer deaths this week than if death rates were the same as 2019. So excess deaths fell by 332 in England and Wales this week
CMI calculates 118,700 excess deaths in the UK since the start of the pandemic. The total has fallen by 1,700 in 2022.
Cumulative mortality YTD is 0.6% of a full year's mortality below 2019.

The recent gap between calculated excess deaths and the number of COVID deaths (on either the ONS or UKHSA measure) has narrowed significantly this week.
Full report publicly available at https://actuaries.org.uk/system/files/f
The CMI analysis is now out, and as reported here, once age-standardised, deaths were 3% lower this week than in its benchmark year, 2019.
YTD 2022 mortality is the lowest experienced yet

And no I won’t be getting any kind of mask. I stopped wearing one roughly a year ago.

For all that people go on about “it’s just a mask”, imagine telling people 3 years ago they’d be wearing a mask everywhere. Just because folk have got used to them it doesn’t mean they should now be considered normal or a small sacrifice. The aim is to get back to normal.

Due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in hospitals and in the community, NHS Forth Valley has decided to return to essential visiting only at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. This is with immediate effect.
Please be assured the situation will be closely monitored and restrictions will be lifted as soon as it is possible to do so.
Community hospitals and community mental health are remaining at two visitors.

I have been diagnosed with Ménière’s disease and have been advised by my GP to stop using masks as it triggers it, especially when wearing for any significant period of time.

Scottish business and commerce have lost faith in the Scot Gov. Mask are essentially irrelevant. There is a wider issue here.
