If you're proud to be a hibby, proud to be a hibby......To all involved over the last 15 or so years that have helped and contributed to the numerous special acts of kindness and support to these kids, whether it's been throwing a few coins in a bucket to driving vans of supplies thousands of miles, I salute you all. What a special community we are part of and will continue to be. The football part is not really that important.

Stevie's work in Dnipro has been impressive since the start, but this is another level. A big thanks for everything you've done and, for what it's worth
, I'm proud of you and everyone else involved. Best wishes and good luck to all of you.

Inspirational - providing kids with hope amongst the darkness of already complicated lives through no fault of their own.
Selfless acts, putting folks lives at risk, such as these shown by the volunteers give us hope to build on - and boy do we need it. Politics of division and hate must be rejected and humanity take a better path than the one its meandered down.
May all the blessings and good fortune shine down on the needy in their hours of desperation."We know the people who have invested so far are simple fans." Vladimir Romanov - Scotsman 10th December 2012
"Romanov was like a breath of fresh air - laced with cyanide." Me.

They will have been well known in Ukraine of course .But now the World knows of their efforts.
Our First Minister has hailed them for their efforts.
Now its down to Boris and co to drop the stalling/visa nonsense and let Ukranian refugees come to the UK... Now !!

I think he's only kidding
Though 'Sir Stevie, Baron of East Craigs' does have a certain ring to it.

I,m not normally an emotional person unless it comes to getting angry
but living here in Holland I was explaining to my Dutch friends last night what the twitter was all about, Steve, the charity etc,,, and I got quite emotional and had to take a wee gulp of air. In the last few days I have seen old (Hibs) friends going to join the fight in Ukraine and now this.
I cant be more proud to be a Hibs fan than over the last couple of days.
Barcelona have a motto
“Més que un Club” more than a club.
Quite adequate for Hibs aswell.

Stevie lived in East Craigs many years ago. Before Dnipro Kids.
I hung about with some of Stevie's pals in the Mid Yoken and Rainbow pubs back then.Last edited by Mick O'Rourke; 12-03-2022 at 12:09 PM.

BBC R4 has just run a story on the Dnipro Kids evacuation. Obviously the UK government’s refusal to accept 100 orphans was raised - I think the pressure is on and Dnipro Kids may have a positive impact way beyond the kids who are directly supported.
EDIT: the Ukrainian guy being interviewed (didn’t catch his name) mocked us for being thrashed by Dnipro all those years ago lol.

So went on the Ukraine Forum and gave Dnipro Kids a mention on a relevant thread.
I then noticed this about Switzerland.
Puts the UK Govt to shame.
"Switzerland is supporting Ukrainian refugees with free travel, accommodation and support within the country.
Ukrainians with a valid passport can travel for free on all Swiss public transport.
TGV LYRIA is offering free travel to Ukrainians, with a Ukrainian passport or ID card.
SBB CFF is offering free travel on public transport to all Ukrainians, whether this is within Switzerland or traveling to a neighboring country.
Since 28th February 2022, Ukrainians can enter visa-free with a valid passport and stay for up to 3 months.
Cities of Zurich, Bale and Les Grisons are welcoming Ukrainian refugees with free accommodationLast edited by Mick O'Rourke; 12-03-2022 at 04:51 PM.

To many Scottish people this sort of 'honour" is at best old fashioned and ridiculous and in many politicians case utterly corrupt.
To date the British are not at all comfortable allowing Ukrainian refugees into the country in any great number unless they already have family here which isn't many😥
However on the very positive side one of the exceptions they are looking at to their credit is refugees who are sponsored by recognised charities.✅
There is a reception center in Poland (Radkow I think) which again after a very slow start is being expanded to deal with the applications.Last edited by The Baldmans Comb; 12-03-2022 at 11:24 PM.
