I'd keep eyes on Ross Callachan, Jambo I know but stood out at Hamilton last year and has been performing well at county. Real battler, good range of passing, scores the odd goal with a point to prove. No idea of contract situ.
Horrible jambo mutant, only tries against us, regularly tries to break legs. Couldn't sign him after our song about him

He’d have a point to prove to a fanbase that took the piss out of him incessantly for a whole season with the Efe Ambrose song!
Couldn’t imagine a worse signing for morale

Get more effort from any of the aforementioned, rather than the present incumbent.
    Give it a rest please.

Holy crap, sinking to new depths if we ever considered him!

Got to say I was very impressed with McCart again today.

Defended well, composed on the ball and really intelligent when it comes to winning fouls in a similar manner to Porteous.

Hope we get him in January.

I thought he was ***** again like he has been every time I’ve seen him 😂

I really hope we don’t sign him.

Really? What was it about his performance that you thought was poor? Genuine question btw, intrigued as people see games differently

I wouldn’t say I studied him, I rarely pay much attention to opposition players but I notice him because of our interest.

I couldn’t tell you any specifics about what he did wrong, I just think he looks a big clumsy awkward defender that’s got a mistake in him.

Way off Porteous and Hanlon level IMO.

I see Jason Kerr has only appeared in 4 out of 21 matches for Wigan.

I’d revisit that one and see if we can get him to be honest.

Would be a perfect fit, only problem is he is reputedly on a weekly wage at Wigan which is out of our ballpark.
Certainly need a high quality centre half to replace Porteous if as expected he leaves in the summer.

According to Soccerbase he's played in 5 games for Wigan in November.

I didn't see the full game but Nisbet breezed past him for the early 'offside' goal. If Hanlon had been beaten as easily as that then he would have been severely criticised, euphemism! 😁

Maybe he knew Nisbet was offside? 😁

According to a mate of his (this does not put me ITK) he has settled well enough. But it looks like he’s struggling to get a run as Wigan are going well so he’s been limited to cup games and the like.

    Edit
Started yesterday in a very good away win at Plymouth!

He got caught on the blind side for Niz “first goal”. That was poor. It bought he was ok bar that.

I’d like us to get Jamie Hamilton. Still 19. Young improving CB and a good investment for the future.

Yeh. He will be desperate to leave there now.

    At least one CB
    Winger
    Striker

Depending on Magennis situation, someone to fill that void

Would love to see us strengthen for 2nd half of season but also for next too.

Go get McCart and McGrath now

I’d be happy with that. The little I’ve seen of him I liked. He’s young but has top flight experience. However I get the impression we are going to spend money on a CB, which I’m in two minds about as I really rate our current two. Unless we are going to three at the back of course. I don’t think we will go for McCart though.

    Mueller is the winger.

I’d say one established centre half for competition even a second in the same mould as McGinn, right back, centre half.

    Another central midfielder for competition

    Centre forward or two.

    Out:
    Hallberg
    Mackie
    Gullan potentially
    Gogic potentially

    New contracts
    Allan
    Porteous
    Nisbet

He would be a good signing but as others have said he’ll be on too much for us and I’m sure he’ll want to give England a decent go before coming back up the road. I’m not sure about McCart but what about saints captain Liam Gordon.

Not gonna happen - we have Boyle cadden Mackay Murphy Mueller Wright gullane all competing for places out wide and we don't even play every match with wingers.

McCart failed to impress me again yesterday. I just don't see what others do in him.

He would be a major downgrade on Porteous and Hanlon. He couldn’t compete with Mcginn either if playing in a three for me either.

We are complaining about losing goals from crosses at the same time as claiming McCart isn’t good enough. Strange times.

I’m a bit surprised about the lack of interest in McCart by some of our fans.

Every time we were close to scoring it seemed like he was the one I get a block, tackle or header in to prevent a goal.

Block on Gullan in first half
Header then block and foul won start of second half when it fell to Nisbet
Clearance when ball fell to Hanlon in box
Won foul to prevent Nisbet’s second disallowed goal

To name but a few. Yes it looked like Nisbet was onside for the first goal but I’m sure St Johnstone fans watching that will say Hanlon sclaffed the ball out which lead to the corner which then Porteous scored an own goal from 😬😂

I’m not saying he’s 100% better than Hanlon and McGinn. But this is only his second season in the top flight and at 24 has lots of room to improve.

Also think he’s very comfortable on the ball for a defender.

Could do far far worse than getting him in for free and providing competition. I think he’s one fans will appreciate more when he’s playing for your team.

Not really anything strange about that?
