James Pearce saying Liverpool are interested in Mcginn but Villa want 50 million, so a deal is unlikely this summer.
Villa have just brought in a highly rated young midfielder from Norwich - Emiliano Buendía. Cost them around £33 million plus £5 million add ons.

Villa owners have a lot of ££ and don’t really need to sell anyone. McGinn is now good mates with Grealish and they enjoy playing together.

Liverpool though are looking to add more to the midfield especially after losing Wijnaldum who is a much better player than McGinn.

I don’t think McGinn will stay at Villa forever but I think he will stay another season at least alongside Grealish - but then can’t see them both leaving at same time as Villa fans would be going mad 2 of their favourite players leave the club.

Out of the two, which player do you think Villa would prefer to keep - Grealish or Mcginn? That might determine how they manage transfer business in this window?

They will want to keep Grealish. So maybe tempted to let SJM leave..if a massive offer comes in with some players in exchange.

But Grealish is also a better player and like Harry Kane will only stay for so long then move on to win more.

Jimmy Dunne leaving Burnley and available on a free - were we not linked to him previously? Did well at Hearts a few years ago but I'm sure we could forgive and forget...

Presumably no top division side up here wanted him which is pretty surprising.

Haven’t got a clue whether Aston Villa can get £50 million for John McGinn.

But just say they did has it been worked out how much Hibs would get from that deal.

Villa get 85%, we get 10.5% and St.Mirren get 4.5%

So if Griffiths is staying at Celtic and we need another striker, who should we be targeting then??? We need to start things moving the squad is due back on Monday.

Imo he's not worth 50 million, but he probably is to Villa, so they won't sell unless it's good money.
When you look at some the rubbish teams in England pay tens of millions for, I would say McGinn is comfortably in the £40 million price range.

Plus Nisbet and Boyle will presumably be away for at least another couple of weeks to allow them a break, due to their international commitments. I hope we're not going into our Euro games with only Doidge as striker.

We'd get £7.5m and have to give £2.25m to St Mirren so £5.25m net.

We would have made over £7m and St Mirren about £3.5m in total from the deal if that comes to pass.

If Liverpool or Man U come calling, at age 26 you don’t piss around. Money plus profile plus champs league plus medals, No brainer. Villa are not the power they were

Be interesting to know if Hibs were interested.

Seems to have been a fans favourite at Raith and potential to go further. Would have liked to have seen him at Hibs.

Can’t see him starting every week in Utd or Liverpool though. He maybe feels another season playing EPL will be beneficial. I get what your saying though. McGinn will want to play Champions League at some point.

It doesn’t look promising. Is Jamie Gullan going to be available or is he going out on loan again? If Boyle and Nisbet are still with us I would have thought they would have wanted to be involved in our European games.

He obviously don’t want to come back so let’s not hang about and wait for him.

Also would like to see us start moving come next week with the ins and out.

The teams we are playing in first round we could play literally anyone of the squad up front and still win.

Money talks unfortunately. As others have pointed out, whatever Celtic offer him in a new contract will be shed loads more than he would get at Hibs. While there will be an emotional pull for him to come back to Hibs, the wage gap completely blows the option out of the water.

Our only hope is that Celtic don't want him.

McGinn is definitely worth £50m in the EPL, he’s a brilliant player. He’s been influential in virtually every game he’s played down there against some of the best midfielders going.

When you look at how much Fred cost Man Utd. I'd say SJM is easily in the £50 million bracket.

Exactly, he's a £50m player all day long in that league.

It was confirmed at the AGM that we get 15% and then have to pay 30% of that to St.Mirren (ie 4.5% of the total)

So if its 50 million Villa get 42.5, we get 5.25 and SM get 2.25 million.

I listened to the full interview and Griffiths blamed everyone at Celtc for not getting a game last season, he admits coming back and not being in the best condition but says he was fit enough to be on the bench, he speaks about a couple of games that he came on as a sub and scored but still didn’t get a run, I’m sure Lennon could say what about the other games he done nothing, says he had a good chat with the new manager, we are only hearing one side here, Celtc if they wanted him to stay would have activated the extra year, guys like Kennedy who never gave Griffiths much time when he was in charge will also have a chat with the manager and give his views about players as well, Angie getting things wrong at the start will see the GB making banners daily if you were a celtc fan you would be wondering why he didn’t put in the hard work through the season to impress Lennon and fans to activate the extra year.

I’ll still have him at Hibs though..
