    Denmark were never going to maintain their energy levels throughout the game, added to the superstar subs, Belgium could end up with 4 or 5 here. Magnificent effort from the Danish in the first half though.
    They did well to keep the score down.

    Italy Belgium in the round of 16 is going to be full porno football
    Surely they wouldn't play against each other if they both win their group.

    I don't get it. Boy who scored looked to be well in front of the last defender when ball was passed to him.

    If he's behind the ball when it's played to him then he's onside I'm sure.

    Cheers John and MW. I've had that explained to me before and forgot. I'll look forward to asking the same question in a year or so!

    Full time 2-0 Netherlands.

    North Macedonia becoming the first team to be eliminated.

    Ukraine v Austria next week is going to be a draw. Absolutely certain as both teams will then qualify for the last 16.

    Very much enjoying watching the English TV coverage this time around as historically its been questionable as far to populist and lacking analysis.

    Rio Ferdinand and Alan Shearer are fair and knowledgeable but don't shirk from making a critical point and Gary Lineker has matured into a natural presenter.✅

    If either loses they'll still qualify.

    What result do we want from today's Croatia v Czech republic game at Hampden?

    A Czech win I think. If teams finish level it's head to head.

    Full scale 26 a side battle on the pitch with both teams thrown out if the competition with Scotland then going through. Failing that I just don't know, there are loads of possibilities but we just need to get our fingers out and get 4 points from the last two games and take it from there

    Yep. GD only comes into it if head to head is level. Which could still happen if, eg. England win all 3, we beat Croatia and Croatia beat Czechia.

    I don’t think so, it’s head to head first, then GD.

    (Unless the tie is between two teams who are playing in the final group game, in that case it’s decided by a pen shoot out immediately after the 90 game, which I like)

    How they decide best 3rd placed teams

    a. higher number of points;
    b. superior goal difference;
    c. higher number of goals scored;
    d. higher number of wins;
    e. lower disciplinary points total based only on yellow and red cards received in
    all group matches (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point, expulsion for
    two yellow cards in one match = 3 points);
    f. position in the overall European Qualifiers rankings (see Article 23).

    Ooh, hadn't heard about the pens.

    Not sure I can find a permutation that gets us there though, sadly. Unless both games are a draw today and a Sco-Cro draw but that leaves us on 2 pts which isn't going to cut it.

    Group B has Russia and Finland both on 3 points, Russia above Finland on - 2 GD Finland on 0 GD.

    Until everyone has played 2 matches, we won’t have an idea what will happen
    Both groups E &F don’t play until Wednesday next week, so even if we were to get 3/4 points, could still be a waiting game
    Let’s just win tonight and on Tuesday😀

    4 points will see you through, last time round of the 4 teams that qualified in third spot 2 had 4 points, 2 had 3 points (including eventual winners Portugal who drew all three of their opening matches), you'll need a half decent GD with 3 points though. 2 teams had 3 points and didnt qualify.

    Spoiler alert. At 4.05 this afternoon. BBC One have a programme with Linekar and Shearer choosing the top 10 best ever goals at the Euros. I suspect that the Gascogne goal will win all ten places.

    Yeah.

    Van Basten's goal was a sitter, he didn't even have to not trip over Colin Hendry, ffs.

    I bet you're glad you took the afternoon off for this one. 😁

    And

    There was no stoppage time because nothing happened
