Thank God. Hope he makes a swift recovery.

Just had a look at the photo again. There is a Denmark strip from this season and a Finland flag in the background.

Hope to God it is genuine and he’s conscious.

It’s been confirmed as an official Getty images photo.

Sorry but BBC should have pulled that as soon as they knew it was serious! Instead the scanned the crowd and then his wife.

    Poor all round imho

I get that all broadcasters are probably working from centralised pictures. However the producer/director/whoever is in charge at the BBC could have made the decision to cut to the studio rather than continuing the feed.

I get it's a tough situation for everyone from the cameraman to the presenters and a blame game helps no one but nobody needs to see CPR being performed and spouses in tears. Get away from the ground ASAP in such a situation.

Talksport reporting that he’s left the ground. Serious but stable.

By all accounts he acknowledged the finish fans who were directly next to him by raising his hand to them!

That was really disturbing to watch, really affected me. I kept thinking how much pressure the emergency staff are under, a life was hanging in the balance and it depended on their actions. It really is unbelievable and their efforts are equally admirable.

    Absolutely horrifying.

The images and reports of Christian being conscious and breathing are encouraging, though of course they don't mean he's out of the woods completely. Hoping beyond hope that he recovers fully, swiftly, and there's no lasting damage.

The Euros don't matter a jot in the face of this. Please, please be well.

It’s easy to criticise the media coverage yet we are all delighted to see that photo of him seemingly conscious as he leaves the ground.

He’s a famous footballer - people want to watch him play and want to know what happens after he suddenly collapses during a game.

I’m finding hard to be too critical here.

Indeed PB however it was clear pretty much straight away how serious this was. To zoom in whilst he is receiving treatment, CPR and being shocked is an utter disgrace. Whilst the pictures will be centralised the boss at the BBC chose to continuing showing it which is out of order.

    Showed no respect imho!

    ****ing vultures.

Apparently broadcasters get multiple feeds. There was no reason to stay with the feed of inside the stadium. That picture of him looking better I also think is extremely distasteful to be honest.

Sadly , this is now the world we live in, something happens (car crash etc) people are more likely to stand and film it rather than do anything to help!

I was watching it hopeful of some positive signs that he was ok. As am sure most people were.

Agreed. I don't like that picture either.

I understand why people are happy to see it in that it shows him conscious and, to put it horribly bluntly, alive. However it's a picture that really didn't need to be taken or shared. When the time is right for news to be released then we will all hear about it. It really is none of our business regardless of his profession or the public nature of his illness.

Horrible to watch. However the medics are highly trained for just such an event and were on the scene in minutes.

Ignorant question here. The medics walked across the pitch, whereas I wanted them to run. Is that their training?

Most were as the option was there however that should not have been the case imho.

I’ve complained which will go nowhere but was poor imho.

The guy was fighting for his life yet they chose to continue to show it.

Well done to the Danish players and the Finnish fans for the flags as screens

It was horrible to watch but I kept watching, as it appears most of us commenting on it did, in the hope he would come through. If I hadn’t had that hope I’d have turned off and probably not come on here to discuss it either.

The BBC will be crucified for the coverage. The resuscitation and video of his distraught wife were just unacceptable. There was plenty of time to make that call.

Just so happy to hear he is recovering, fingers crossed he is ok.
