I liked Moult at Motherwell but cruciate ligament injuries are the pits.
It would have been good if he could have played for a few months before the end of his contract.
Even the crock buyers of old gorgie town will be wary.

I’m not saying we should go for him, but the recovery rate for pro athletes from crucial injuries is almost 100 percent now ..the procedure has advanced and the rehab is well understood . Also these guys get to focus purely on their rehab - it’s not anywhere near the challenging injury to recover from than it was 10-20 years ago ....

Sure the club will have its targets but not sure he fits the Bill! We already have Christian in that position.

Are you any more likely to suffer the same injury in the future if you have had it before?

As a man who has done it three times on the same knee, it certainly happens ! . And for non professional athletes where their rehab and conditioning may not be perfect, it is perhaps more common...But for professional athletes, the modern stats don’t suggest that is much more likely than doing your other knee...

He’s 29 now though. It’s pretty much all downhill from here and it’s already a few years since he was at his best. We should stay well clear and I’m certain we shall.

The biggest predictor of future injury is past injury problems, unfortunately.

Line from Scott Burns (who knows his Aberdeen stuff) about Irvine.

“They are also in talks with Clark Robertson and have also spoken to Jackson Irvine but if he remains in Scotland he is more likely to resign for Hibs, although he has strong interest from overseas.“

Sounds to me like they tried and were told to bolt.

£7m for Turnbull but £2.5m for McGinn. Crazy.

Last year of his contract and that but still

Quite right, 7m I think isn’t our of the question. We undersell players up here compared to what’s being paid for players in leagues below the premiership 7m isn’t anything to Prem clubs. Celtic paid 2.7m for him only last year and he’s progressed as a big player for them since so why not 7m 🤷*♂️

Think it was £3m for McGinn but yes, we all know villa got a bargain there.

The only plus was that it raised our profile with clubs in England. Hopefully the next one won’t go so cheap.

Surprised if turnbull goes after only a season. He’s settled well and will surely play a lot of games at Celtc next term.

Yes, and puts a question mark against their supposed financial clout v our’s. There again, it could also indicate that Irvine has struck up a good relationship with his team-mates at ER and fancies another season with them.

Not that crazy when you take into account the sell on clause.

Irvine seemed to suggest in the open goal interviews some of his football decisions are more based on how comfortable he feels and how certain clubs can get under his skin. Hope that is the case with us and think it might be and no doubt a cup win could cement that.

Yeh I remember that, I think it's unfortunate that we have not had fans in the stadium to help him get that connection

Villa were a Championship team then and are now a well established mid table Premier team.

Lets just say for a minute that we get offers in for Doig, Nisbet and Porteous that completely match our valuation of the three of them. Do you then accept all three and look to reinvest in the squad to really push us on?

It might just be me, but for what it is worth, I just feel all three are replaceable and you would have lots of money left to strengthen other areas of the team and squad. The only thing that worries me is an extremely high level of player turnover having seen how it often doesn't work out at other clubs - Hearts are a prime example.

    Firstly lets win the Cup.
But yes i agree its a difficult one for club and players concerned. These are serious amounts of money we are talking about for Hibs and the players concerned and its possible we could lose 3/4 of our main players. However if they do leave in my mind its more acceptable with the Cup in the Trophy Room.Interesting times ahead.

Spurs must be looking at SJM..he absolutley bossed their midfield the other night by all accounts.

Given Ron's recent comments I can't see all of Doig, Nisbet, Porto, Boyle going. But maybe one or two. In that case, how do you prioritise who goes and in doing so run the risk of pissing off those who stay (or don't get to go for good money) a la Peter Cormack.

Funny I thought it would be a replacement for Jack Grealish.

To be honest SJM and Grealish are both several levels above Turnbull at the moment, Grealish especially...he is a once in a generation type player IMHO

The only player we would find really difficult to replace is Boyle. A forward player with his pace and genuine quality would almost certainly be outwith our financial capabilities.

All the others, to one degree or another, are replaceable.

Doig, Nisbet and Porteous are all replaceable imo so if good offers came in I think we could end up a much better side if the money was all reinvested.

Boyle would be the one I’d be concerned about losing. No way we’re replacing him.
