Just shows how incredibly talented the guy is to have these background medical conditions and still have had the career he has and still continuing to push for a start in a team sitting third in the top league in the country - Scottys an inspiration and were very lucky to have him!![]()

I’m absolutely delighted the news is now so positive, from Scott Allan’s perspective and from a selfish point of view because I want to see him back in a Hibs jersey again. I’ve never hidden my thoughts on him as a player, watching someone with his ability is why I love football.
I would hope given time he will get back to his best and if possible will be an even better player and he will finally get the Scotland call up his talents deserve.

The full interview is terrific. Luke Shanley is excellent at his job.
The way everyone has managed this has been truly commendable but Scott is an inspiration. He seems to have taken everything in his stride and managed to turn it into a motivation.
He’s also managed to spread awareness for both of his illnesses brilliantly and never looks for any sympathy, just keen to knuckle down and play football.
The last question about the club almost had me going, there’s a real connection between Hibs and Scott Allan, delighted to see him back.
Also, there’s a career in the media after football if he wants it, he’s incredibly articulate and very likeable too!

Hibs and Scott have conducted themselves with class though all of this. Well done to both but especially Scott. Wish the lad nothing but good luck in getting back into the side and playing regularly.

Scott is one young man that can genuinely be held up as role model, he deserves so much credit for the way he has conducted himself.

The extended interview is a wonderful listen. Scott Allan comes across as a humble and dignified man and has made the most of a career with so many health obstacles in the way.
Really glad that Hibs managed the situation in the manner they did.

I am full of admiration for Scott for the way he has handled this issue and his determination to overcome both health issues.
It is such a shame that he can’t walk out to a packed Easter Road tomorrow so that we could express our love and support.

He was fortunate to get a warning from his body and importantly switched on enough not to ignore it.
The interview is very positive and there is even a chance his performances could improve given he has refined his diet and as such is taking even greater care of his diabetes. He is also aware of the condition now which he states is at the milder end of the spectrum so all as good an outcome as he and we could have hoped for.
It really is amazing that he has been able to play at the standard he has, given he will have had this issue the whole of his career and the difference between a good and great player can be as simple as a tiny bit more stamina or speed.Last edited by CMurdoch; 19-02-2021 at 12:54 PM.

The manager decided to give Scott something tangible to show him he really was on the way back.
The game was humped so he pulled something positive out of it.

If people think it's got legs as an idea, I'll start a new thread. Would be nice to give everyone a chance to welcome the big man back to actionLast edited by Northernhibee; 19-02-2021 at 12:51 PM.

Great interview by Luke S on Sky - this is the long version - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IURhRCKBZu8
Scott Allan, and Hibs have managed this very well, he saw 3 specialists.
I truly hope to see him back at top form................but as always, his health is the first priority.

iirc, there was also a lot of borderline snidey comments being made about the admins in regards to trying to minimise the conversation and speculation on here about SA’s condition, so well done to the admins not only for how they handled the situation but also doing that in the face of how they were spoken about on here
good news about Scott, whatever happens going forward I hope that he and his loved ones are happy and healthy

Great news for the young man, now perhaps the gossips and the nosey ones will just mind there own business. (Although I doubt it) some of the gossips on here will realise that something’s are just not for the nosey ones to know and gossip about over the washing line.

While I'm obviously especially pleased that the story is about a very talented Hibs player battling through a potentiallly career-ending affliction, I'd be pleased for any footballer (or indeed any sportsman or woman) in such circumstances no matter what club they played for. However on the BBC Scotland live football feed this afternoon, the number of folk who have decided to select the 'thumbs down' on this story bewilders me. Why would you do that?

Great interview. It must be really difficult for an athlete to live on a low carb diet, I am a T1 myself and not an athlete, in fact I'm probably the polar opposite to an athlete and it is difficult enough for me. To have these two conditions and to still have the desire and drive to play and succeed at the top level of football in this country is testament to his character. Can't wait for him to be slipping beautiful passes through to our strikers once again.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

What an incredibly brave guy , a credit to his family and himself.
Brilliant the way the club have rallied round as well .
Good luck to the guy not only in football but in life outside it.
A real role model

Admins,
Forgive me if this comes across as pushy.
I wondered if the Scott Allan thread about his interview could maybe be closed - so the Northernhibee thread with electronic message to Scott doesn’t get lost or overlooked?
Just a thought.
