    Pretty sure I read that ‘Nello was first introduced to the ‘big team’ on the tour of Ghana and Nigeria where the locals although obviously biased were applauding and oohing and aahing at Marinello’s speed, ball control, trickery, dribbling skills and all round wing wizardry

    They just could not get enough

    I think John "spud" Murphy, like Peter was new to the squad ]

    Some trivia
    Efe Ambrose played for a club in Nigeria Hibs met on that tour.
    Hibernian.... first British club to tour Africa
    One of the teams we played on the tour did not have boots for all their players.
    Hibs gave them boots.
    Or it was going to be barefoot !!

    Dunno about that the club seem to think so Africa ( Nigeria and Ghana )

    I know my local club Blackpool toured Nigeria, Ghana and then called Rhodesia in 1960. They played 8 games winning 7 of them. Tour started on May 4th. Im sure other must have toured too.
