I find it incredible that, after everything that's happened, the Republicans are still going on about a stolen election.

This is just a total lie and they've seen the effect it has on the worst elements of his followers, yet they still carry on.

Yes, It's almost as if they support the right wing coup attempt.

I’m willing to bet all those outraged about that will have been equally outraged about the unarmed black people that have been shot and killed recently.

    Or maybe not.

Before the last UK election I read an article about Johnson. The author knew him personally and she said he was a man either disinterested in or incapable of caring about the feelings of others.

She said he had betrayed his own siblings, cheated on every partner he had ever had, studiously ignored some of his own children, betrayed his political allies, used and discarded friends, deceived his employers etc etc etc. All he was interested in was what was best for Boris. Anything else was unimportant , if he got what he wanted then he was happy and if he retained a bit of popularity whilst doing so then all the better.

Trump has all the same tendencies. He won't shed a single tear for the lives ended because of his rhetoric. If it destabilises the next US govt and paves the way for one of his brood to have a run at the next election then he's happy. Everything else is just collateral damage.
Read similar re Johnson, and his former employer Max Hastings (hardly a left wing Tory hater) gives some insights too.

For me the only thing that separates Trump like behaviour and that I feel Johnson, and a few of those who he has surrounded himself with are capable of, is that they appear to be more intelligent than Trump and are therefore better at cloaking their true nature.

That’s the problem with Trumpism right there - Cruz is more worried about what’s in it for him rather than what’s the right thing to do.

She would have been warned that they would shoot her if she continued to try and get through the window. Whoever shot her would have been scared for their life, even if she did not have a gun, the next one might, or the one after that.

I have no sympathy for her.

Failing to name, shame and condone following his comments and the actions of his supporters is disgraceful imho.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Boris has briefed (warned) them not to condone what’s been said by Trump??

Without doubt however by her actions she has put herself in this position. She made the choice. It’s tragic however these people knew exactly what they were doing and surely knew what the potential outcome could be??

Cruz is a lunatic, Craig Mazin the guy behind the Chernobyl series had to share a room with him at college, should see the stories and things he posts about him and what he got up to on twitter, he despises the guy

The vast majority of what was on view looked like "redneck", it's difficult to believe this odd group represents anything else, but if you scratch the surface, theres some clever republicans hiding behind this and manipulating them for their own ends. Shame on them.

A bit like how Hitler used Stormtroopers on Krystalnacht to do the Nazi party's dirty work.

White House staffers described Trump's response to the rioters entering the Capitol as borderline enthusiastic, and he was unwilling to condemn them.

I watched it and on live TV 3 times she was asked if she would say Trump was responsibly and 3 times she skirted round the question. She did say it was disgraceful behaviour etc by those who took part.

    If she has fair dos!

Edit: googled it and she has since laid the blame at his door.

Some republican members of congress claiming it was antifa who stormed congress.

It’s genuinely scary that they’ve seen yesterday’s scenes and want to fan the flames further.

I'd like to think that yesterday's events will be a lesson to all who play down what's happening all over the Western World as just voter disillusionment against the establishment. Sure, people are disillusioned but that is only part of the story as they are merely pawns in an insidious network of modern day fascists pulling the strings and using that disillusionment to fire up the mob. Trump, Cummings, Orban, Putin, Bolsonaro, Le Penn, Farage, Wilders, Kaczyński, Netanyahu, Salvini, Banks and many more that I could list if I gave it more thought. Be under no illusion, fascism is alive and thriving again and what we saw yesterday is a tiny taste of things to come if the worlds population continue to keep their heads firmly stuck up their *****. However I won't hold my breath.

Woman who was shot got exactly what she (and many others yesterday, who didn't) deserved.

Plenty of photos doing the round of the types of people who were there yesterday - including one wearing a 'Camp Auschwitz' t-shirt, and another with SS/Nazi symbols and '6MWE' (6 million wasn't enough) on a t-shirt.

    Utter vermin.

The Manager at my work is exactly like Priti Patel, and it ain't a 'pretty' sight.

Came back from maternity leave and has acted like The Spawn of Satan ever since. Constant bullying, no 'dissent' (i.e. asking questions) allowed and has been known to shout down people in meetings.

She even looks a bit like Patel, including the RBF.

Correct. People like Cruz are completely amoral. Consumed with ambition, everyone and everything is expendable in pursuit of their personal goals. He is an extreme example of venality, a truly terrible person. He knows the conspiracy theory he is pushing is nonsense, but he has calculated it will help him in his next run for president, so he abandons democracy, truth, his oath of office. Cruz and his ilk have enabled Trump and the lunatic conspiracy theorists, one of the consequences of which was yesterday's madness.
