The greatest game in history and every hibby that was there will never forget it
It remains Hearts’ record home league defeat to this day only matched by Celtic in the Scottish Cup in 2013
It was the sort of performance every supporter dreams about
Every HIBS player was at the peak of their game
There was the dashing of the full backs John Brownlie and Erich Schaedler
There was the complete mastery of the midfield : the industry and drive of Pat Stanton the virtuosity of Alex Cropley and complementing them Alex Edwards whose special qualities reminded us how few players can really pass the ball well
On the left the speed of Arthur Duncan was devastating
In the middle the forceful Alan Gordon who won every ball in the air, challenged with determination and embarrassed those who had discarded him and Jimmy O’Rourke who like a hungry dog snapped for any crumbs
Not forgetting Scotland international goalkeeper Jim Herriot and Jim Black and John Blackley at the back who snuffed out and swept up everything Hearts had to offer in attack after an initial flurry when Hearts could easily have scored
On the day that the UK joined the EEC HIBS had to win by six clear goals to overtake Celtic at the top of the Scottish First Division
The green machine just kept going forwards sheer football delight

Sorry to be pedantic, Billy, but if you were in the Gorgie Rd end at a derby in 1984, it was Hibs fans only...
...as it was full segregation at that point and that was the Hibs end.

3/1/2015 Scottish League Championship
Hearts 1 v 1 Hibernian
Cummings 23
Hibs had renewed confidence after disposing of Rangers 4-0 at Easter Road
Hearts had no answer to Scott Allan and HIBS took the lead when Jason Cummings cushioned a superb Allan ball that took out the whole defence into the jambo net
Jamie Walker equalised with a long range strike to maintain Hearts’ superb unbeaten start to the campaign

HIBS can consider themselves fortunate to escape with a victory here
HIBS raced into a first half lead through Garry O’Connor and Stephen Dobbie but Thistle came right into the game in the second half through goals from James Grady and a fortunate second when Daniel Andersson punched the ball off Madaschi’s head into the unguarded net
With Thistle looking the more likely Stephen Whittaker grabbed the winner with 6 minutes to go when he fired home from the edge of the box

That season we drew 18 out of 36 league games.
Incidentally, is that the year that Tom Hart wouldn't allow the games at ER to be shown on TV?
I can't remember what the reason was for it but it was definitely around that time.
