Don’t know how many people have subscriptions to Apple TV. But I feel compelled to recommend a few programs/films on there as I’m not sure they’ve been mentioned by anyone other than me before.

Defending Jacob. Really great drama that has you guessing all the way through and one that I hope there’s a second series of because it was so good and ended on a cliffhanger, it stars Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery from Downtown and Jayden Martel from the IT films as the young boy accused of murder, he’s absolutely brilliant, I’ve watched it twice and I’m still no wiser on whether he’s guilty or not. There’s also a good cameo from JK Simmons who is one of my favourite actors.

The morning show, shouldn’t really need any bigging up with the cast and the fact that it won loads of awards, but I’ve not seen it mentioned so thought I’d bring it up again. It stars Jennifer Anniston and Reece Witherspoon and while it might seem like a chicks series, I’d disagree. Steve Carell is brilliant as the man accused of inappropriate behaviour once the Me Too movement kicked off and I enjoyed every episode for very different reasons and by the end I was hooked.

Ted Lasso. What can I say about this show? I love it soooo much, just forced my 16 year old son to watch the first season which is the only one available so far (season 2 and 3 have already been agreed) it’s brilliant, I’ve laughed cried and cheered all the way through both viewings. It stars Jason Sudekis who you’ll probably know from Horrible Bosses and We’re the miller’s as an American football coach who takes over a struggling Premier league team in London.

I’m now watching Greyhound with Tom Hank’s and Steven Graham . It’s a ww2 film, and so s far so good. They are just amazing in whatever they do.

I see there's a new version if The Stand on Amazon Prime. My favourite Stephen King book, imagine I'll be disappointed by this latest incarnation.

They had already done films of the Stand, IT, and the Langoliers. I remember them as relatively low budget 'made for TV' films - shown in multiple parts on Sky One in the early nineties. I quite enjoyed them at the time.

I'm not sure I'd get much from a reboot as I didn't get much from the rebooted IT films. Hope it is good though as not everyone will have seen the other versions.

Yeah I've got the original Stand on DVD but as you say it was made for TV but had a decent cast.

Always hoped for a better adaptation. The book was very good.

EDIT - looks like Starzplay is an add on to Amazon. Can get 3 months for 99p as a trial. Might sign up to watch this

I signed up on Friday. I've already put an alarm on my phone to remind me to bin it before the 3 months is up.

I had to laugh when I saw what it was about, it reminded me of the old joke about the new series "CSI Dundee" being rubbish because there were no dental records and everybody had the same DNA.

Only gripe is calling it the law Hill. It's just the Law, but non locals wouldn't understand

Is this worth sticking with? I’m in season 4 (I think!) and getting a bit bored with it so don’t know if it’s worth persevering?

I loved Ted Lasso too. Funny, clever story and very well acted. One of those things that if described to you it may well put you off watching but it was brilliant

I can’t tell you why but I love farming shows like Landward and Countryfile. I’ve never been interested in farming and I’ve always lived in the city, but I love these shows.

Can’t remember what the show is called but there’s one where they follow people taking their live stock to shows to get judged, whenever I catch it, I can’t stop watching. I have no interest in farming either.

We watched ‘Death to 2020’ on Netflix last night and thought it was excellent. I particularly liked the US Soccer Mom character. I thought the actress got that sort of person spot on.

Embarrassingly, at the end and saw Hugh Grant listed the credits, I said to my girlfriend “who was Hugh Grant?” My girlfriend looked at me in disbelief. I genuinely thought it was Griff Rhys Jones

I think that’s what it might be, the fact it’s shown on a Sunday might have something to do with it.

I quite like the other shows about just one farm, things like Jimmy’s farm.
