Here are some replies to a post about some refugees/migrants being found in the back of a truck returning from the eu, I do realise that drivers in the haulage industry are affected directly by illegal immigration but the complete lack of any voice of reason is imo alarming:
"When the ****** gets to eunazi land he can stay there if he doesn't like democracy"
"Displaced out into Essex and Sussex
Then robbed blind by the flip flops or pikeys"
"Sealed trailer should be filled with gas at the docks simples"
"More rats in the country again"
"All fighting aged males. If it’s that bad back in their own country why would you leave your mum, sister, wife, daughter behind to face the music when they find out you’ve left"
"Line em against a wall"
"Load of em fetched out of a wagon other week on the m1 wish the police could just throw them into the carriageway"
"More of the *******s to rape our system, boils my piss"
"How Corona virus spreadingsend the *******s back to France in a D day reinactmen they will think twice next time"
"Send the ****ers bk why are we so soft!! No room for anymore foreigners."
"Oh look, more doctors help our nhs"
"Just shoot them they are bring more diseases back into the uk we don’t need and we cannot afford it so to all you ****ing do gooders if it’s is that important for you to look after theses people you take 2 of the ****ers into your home to live in with you instead of you sitting on your ***** in your big houses watching all these tickets coming in and say look after the immigrates refugees and migrants in stead of them getting better treatment than the English and if you think it’s the right thing to do then let the immigrants and so to live with you in your home or village and see what happens to the village where you live then say it’s right for them to come here and take the money off the working people and we are paying for them to live here in the uk better than is people and it’s coming from our paid in taxes and national insurance and we are struggling to get a living for the older people and the armed forces who some have on where to live yet they will put the *******s that keep coming here living in 4 star hotels for free you do all this for them to come why do you think they come because government advertise o these people come to the uk and get free money housing and nhs instead of looking out for the English people and do the same for the armed forces people come out of there jobs after serving the country and you won’t ever help them but you will continue to let these *******s in to the uk why they have nothing to offer only draw on the counties money which you say you don’t have anymore money for the elderly the sick that is here you don’t look after your own people but you will let all these immigrants migrates refugees to come here and you make it your first priority to help then at the counties expense you should be out there stopping them get across the channel and do like the french have and that is put the coast guards boat out there stopping them from getting across and turn them back I’ve had to work hard for what I have got now you the government as not given me a thing to help me buy and home or put food on my plate and for my family I have with working hard and up to 90 hours per week and I had to do that to get where I am now and what have got out of working all these hours and years I got lung cancer in 2015 and guess what I got for all my hard work and paying silly amounts of tax into the uk now be got a bloody brain tumour can’t just have lung cancer I’ve got a **** life in front of me now and all that the government wants to do is keep letting more and more of these people into the uk it does happen in any other countries but the uk they are supposed to stop travelling when they reach the first country they get to and ask to stay there no they travel over all the other countries because they know that they will get a house free spending more free health care try and get it anywhere else but the uk other countries have camps for them to live in and give them nothing at all and we need camps in the uk to stop them coming and stop giving money and houses B&B and give them **** all but only to live in these camps then let it be and stop looking after the immigrants better than the true English people I would sink the boats that coming over here and let the french coast guard get them back and if they won’t take the back then leave them the take the risk it’s up to them if hey wanted to take the risk of sinking out in holding camps and stop giving out money to them do this and they won’t want to come here keep them away from the uk I don’t like the idea of the indigenous people getting pushed out of our own country and it’s happening now just look in the parliament and see the none English people in there there are loads come back Enoch Powell you was right all a long but no one would listen sorry for going on but this is my pet hate".

I don't think this is confined to HGV drivers. I think it's prevalent in many different closed groups where racism and xenophobia is allowed to fester without being opposed. I just think that this particular nest of rancidity I've accidentally stumbled upon is particularly odious, however I'm sure there's worse out there.

I did have a chuckle though when you mentioned the lack of physical and mental exertion needed in the heavy haulage industry, if you're looking for an easy ride in your last 10 years of work then you may well be in for a rude awakening in your chosen path, hopefully not though.
As for your quoted post, unfortunately I hear talk like that all too often, there's a real lack of moral in what used to be a really close knit community, some real comradeship has been lost over the years. Times gone by drivers would congregate in all the various usual towns and villages when their hours were up and they'd frequent the local clubs, pubs and B&B's before heading back out on the road. Now, with modern vehicles, they're forced to sleep in cab in some dank layby or a generic truckstop if you're lucky enough to have an employer who pays for it. Average pay has reduced over the years and unfortunately a lot of drivers blame foreign workers for that and the many failings the industry has at the moment. I'd hazard a guess that construction and hospitality are harbouring the same kind of hatred. I'm in no way trying to defend the halfwit that wrote the quoted post as it's obviously indefensible and more to the point it's factually incorrect.

I'm under no illusions as to the arduous nature of my chosen career change and have done a lot of research into the industry over here. Anything that passes through Germany and most of what arrives in Germany is firmly in the hands of Eastern European haulage organisation, however the vast majority of that what moves within the country is safely in German hands and controlled by German legislation and union tariff agreements. The UK could have done similar if the government was willing to do so or the unions were powerful enough to force them to but unfortunately they didn't. Germany loves its trades and apprenticeships and driving is no different. To be able to drive commercially here, you must hold a qualification gained through apprenticeship or by having relevant proven experience and an intensive lateral entry course and completion of state controlled examinations. Without completing the aforementioned and having received the relevant certification, drivers working commercially face fines of €5000 and employers €15000 everytime they get caught. I'm hoping to pick up a job delivering fuel to petrol stations where the money is good and the shifts ensure I'm guaranteed to get home every night, if successful it will be my first job ever where I will be home every night.
If that doesn't work out with the tankers then I'm lucky enough to live in an area that is pretty much one huge logistics centre. I'm just south of Berlin and the whole area is a huge hub for not only goods coming into the country but also a staging post for supplying Berlin with everything it needs. This will be my 4th occupation since leaving school and I've been lucky enough to have had jobs that many kids dream of doing, all these jobs have been difficult in their own respect but if I had to choose I'd say being a trucker is likely the easiest of them all.
Apologies for going off on a tangent but I am rather excited about the new challenge.

Welsh government threatening to take the UK government to court over the internal market bill.
https://gov.wales/written-statement-...al-market-bill
The Welsh Government is determined to do everything we can to protect the Senedd in the face of the outrageous attack on its legislative competence made by the UK Government through the UK Internal Market Bill, to which the Senedd has rightly refused consent.
The Bill will today complete the process of Commons Consideration of Lords Amendments. If the Bill is enacted in its present form, this would leave the ambit of the devolution settlement in Wales uncertain and undermined.
Regulation-making powers in the Bill would open the Government of Wales Act 2006 (GoWA) to very wide substantive future amendment, and the powers of the Senedd and Welsh Government to serious diminution, at the hands of the UK Government.
The provisions in the Bill are also so wide and deep in operation that they risk constraining the legislative space for the Senedd in areas which are currently devolved.
We have therefore today formally notified the UK Government that should the UK Parliament enact the Bill in its present form, I intend to take immediate action to seek a declaration from the Administrative Court that the ambit of constitutional legislation cannot lawfully be cut down in this way and that the ensuing Act cannot be interpreted so as to have that effect.
We have asked for a response from the UK Government within 14 days.
I will keep Members fully informed of developments.

That looks like a slip road on to a RH-drive motorway. In the background, there are overhead signs which look like they are on the RH side of the motorway.Last edited by CropleyWasGod; 17-12-2020 at 09:45 AM.
