Hearts over the last few seasons remind me of us from around 2010 to 2014. A rudderless ship, people who meant well just not getting it, managers who were ultimately out of their depth, players not pulling their weight etc, etc. It was tough going watching us then and the whole mood around the club was flat. Relegation might be a wake up call for them as it was for us but the big difference is we got to start with a clean slate, they're stuck with the people who got them there. Even their "new manager" is someone the fans hounded out for eye bleeding football
Funnily enough I was thinking about this earlier today whilst walking back with my groceries. All of those who back in those days said we needed to start spending big, speculate to accumulate were missing the point; if you don't have the right leadership in place then you can spend all the money in the world but it won't go to the right players, staff, business decisions and the things you do spend money on will ultimately end up with you in just a bad a place as we were in our relegation season, but with awful players on big contracts, half finished stands, a manager who was hounded out by their fans and lots more.

Say what you want, but the days of Petrie were at least recoverable, if not perfect. New stand - delivered, saved us from oblivion - delivered, our own training ground - delivered, the infrastructure and staff setup to recover and come back from relegation stronger - delivered and some silverware - delivered on our own terms.

What's going on at Hearts is mindbogglingly bad.

Do you think your security can keep you in purity, you will not shake us off above or below. Scottish friction, Scottish fiction

Yeah I agree. It's like us but far, far worse. The whole Covid episode and Budge playing up to the fans has saved her skin big time. In normal circumstances there would have been serious questions being asked about the leadership of that club. Poor decision after poor decision.

I kind of disagree, if I'm honest. When we were relegated and only ended up with eight first team players, decisions off the field had at least put us in an easy position to rebuild. Good stadium, good training facilities, Leeann Dempster in and the football brain that she offers, good support for the first team coach and a clear vision for the future. Poor footballing decisions to scrimp and save and also appointing Butcher put us down and those two things alone were enough to relegate us.

How Hearts rebuild from here I have no idea. A bloated squad of largely poor players, some on high wages. A stand that still needs a lot of work on it from what I read on here. Decision making that led to the expensive new pitch being laid down, then holding a massive concert on it before the season starts. An administration that forgot to order seats for a new stand FFS.

By appointing Leeann Dempster and changing the football side of things, we were in a position of a near clean slate and although it took three seasons for us to go up, we were an entirely different club in 14/15 onwards compared to 13/14. I hugely doubt that Hearts can have that sort of organisational transformation in three years, let alone one.

Hearts' biggest problem is their failure to admit to their mistakes, even to themselves. Thus, they will continue to make them and be baffled as to why things continue to go wrong, or wrongly blame external forces for them.

Hearts fixture list is out tomorrow afternoon. I fancy that 15 away games could trigger some seethe.

Is it a 27 game campaign?
They’ll get 14 home games, or Budge will be onto ND straight away

Good to see John McGlynn still following the famous as well, or maybe he was just modelling hats.

I don't want Tynecastle voted as the best away day ever again by the fans. I want it to be hostile. I want opposition fans fesring for their lives. I want the away teams to be given the absolute minimum tickets. I want the young team sited in the Roseburn. I don't want fans separated by tarpaulin, i want an 8 foot fence. I want every away fan coming to Tynecastle to feel the absolute wrath of every jambo inside. I want **** raining down on them for 90 mins. I want them scared. I want them to never want to return. I want to burn their flags, steal their drums. I want to let down their team buses tyres, i want their bus to leave a little airier than it arrived. I want oppostiton fans greeted at the train stations. I want our stewards to be absolute pricks and remove any and every one of the ****my supporters who think they can come to our home and laugh. I want ballboys taking the absolute piss. I want lothian and borders police to arrest every ****er singing sectarian songs, or eject them from the ground. I want our boardroom to be like a bear pit when chairmen of "those" clubs come to town. Indeed i want these chairmen put in hospitality with livid jambos and we will have our say. Relegation is justice for four wins in a League season. That one is roasting away nicely.

The reason they are so angry is that they were led up the garden path by their Chairperson and those who speak for them. They were led to believe that they had a chance of not going down, recontrsuction, the league being cancelled, relegation being cancelled, the court case and arbitration. Victory was always just around the corner. Now that reality has given them a wake up call their little day dream session is over and they don't like it.
