Sturgeon and Leitch want to get on the same page. He was telling us last week that wearing masks was pointless.
He's just been on the radio saying the same as sturgeon said yesterday.

Maybe there's been a bit more strength added to the weak science which advices mask wearing.

Or there's simply pros and cons and the decision has been made to start advertising the pros more strongly so they've both started to do so.

Circumstances change and opinions change with them, but it seems to me like they're on the same page.
    Mon the Hibs.

The same reason doctors stopped telling people smoking was good for them. The scientific evidence and advice evolved.

Or, the science has not changed, and different governments around the world have been giving different advice according to perception of stocks of masks available to their respective healthcare forces.

I didn't say you said it, but seeing as you raised it, "completely outshone the UK govt, in terms of leadership at least" suggests to me that you think Sturgeon has shown great leadership.

I know it's a low bar versus the UK Government but, if you don't think that, what did you mean?
It’s been blatantly clear that as a leader she has been far above her UK counterparts. She has drawn praise from all around not just her supporters.

She has delivered advice on face masks it seems after receiving further information.

The NRS figures have been published for this week. Every death is a tragedy, but the care home deaths are heart breaking more in this setting in Lothian and Edinburgh City than in hospital.

Did anyone else get a leaflet from Scot Gov and a letter from Nicola Sturgeon today?

I assume it was printed a while ago as there is no mention of face masks in the protecting other people section. Suggests the change of advice was quite sudden.

    Dominic Raab stumbling though PMQ’s.

If he could stop saying “ramp up”, that would be terrific.

I can't wait to see Starmer get a shot at Johnson. His entire career has been spent questioning people. He'll eat the bumbling fool alive.

I got that a couple of days ago.

To be honest, I'm not sure it was required. It felt very much the same as the UKGov one from a few weeks ago. "It's crap. It'll be better again eventually. Here's a timeline of what to do if anyone has symptoms".
    Mon the Hibs.

I believe if everyone was right on the ball "ramp up" would not be needed as we should have been fully "ramped up" long ago. However unfortunatly we were not.

The over use of the phrase makes no difference.

If they want to “ramp up”, do it. Stop saying it. It makes no difference to the general public, the vast majority of whom recognise the risks and take the necessary precautions.

Well said. Hope all's OK with the wee one as his arrival would appear to have come significantly sooner than expected judging by how the news caught pundits by surprise. As Starmer just said it must have been a hell of an anxious time for them, particularly Carrie Symonds.

Is there anywhere any official explanation/guesses about where the daily hundreds of new cases are coming from? Households with existing infected? Keyworkers from colleagues? Rajes having barbecues?

    Switzerland conclude that:-

"Young children are not infected and do not transmit the virus,".... "They just don't have the receptors to catch the disease."

Authorities in Switzerland say it is now safe for children under the age of 10 to hug their grandparents, in a revision to official advice on coronavirus.

The health ministry's infectious diseases chief Daniel Koch said scientists had concluded that young children did not transmit the virus.

"Young children are not infected and do not transmit the virus," he said. "They just don't have the receptors to catch the disease."

However, he stressed such meetings should be brief and not involve babysitting.

So what is the science telling Switzerland that is different to elsewhere?

Thanks. I suppose it will largely depend on the individual workplace's ability to adhere to social distancing. Those that can will start to reopen soon, those that can't will either stay closed or the employees will continue working from home.

    That's a very interesting claim.
