It would be funny if they forgot to put a cant play against us clause in the loan agreement.
It's a league rule, nothing to do with the contract.

That result tonight is a hammer blow to our pink chums, they’re realistically looking at a playoff place at best. I’ve been on the fence as to whether they’d go down or not, but I’m now leaning towards them finishing bottom. Their one big result they’ve had since Stendal came in was the win against the huns, that result is looking less impressive every week as the huns stumble from one disaster to another. If it wasn’t for the greatest draw in history against the sheep I’d be convinced they’re doomed.

    United we stand here....

Think I’m waiting until after we beat them to start making any such predictions....I’m nervous about the game already!

I was the same before Tynie though and we spanked them then so a repeat this time around will be perfect.

The relegation places will be decided after the split. It looks like it's between the bottom 3, but Ross County could still be dragged into it.

Nothing is even close to being decided yet.

ross county won’t be dragged into it they will win at least another two games and a few draws. Hearts won’t be catching them. It’s a two horse race and may the most famous team finish last.😂

Duncans two results from certain relegation imo. Lose away to St Mirren and Away to Hamilton after the split then they’re away.

There are 10 games before the end of the season.

    And if they win?

I still think they'll escape the drop.

I think they will get play offs at the absolute minimum. It's all too familiar to the Butcher days for me. After each game you say 'we will get a win next time' before you know it it's too late.

The problem Hearts have is that although Hearts will have easier fixtures after the split, so will Hamilton and St Mirren.

Hearts won’t lose every game between now and the end of the season, they’ll pick up points along the way I’m sure, so will Hamilton and St Mirren though.

They remind me of us with Butcher in charge. Everybody was saying we only needed one win but it never came. It's hard to break a losing habit.

Has a team bottom of the league at the start of March ever stayed up? Can't be many if so

Win those games and they’d still be in the play off positions.

I don’t think they’ve shown anything to suggest they will be going on a winning run anytime soon.

yes it’s possible but hearts would need to win 4 games over the ten and county not win any , not going to happen . Hearts have won only 3 all season.

I just think they’re starting to run out of games to turn it around. Their form hasn’t picked up at all and they’re struggling against the teams around them.

    Saw this somewhere:

The last time the team who were bottom at Christmas didn't finish bottom was 2010/11. Aberdeen were bottom but ended up finishing 9th.

Problem is they need much more than one win. Unlike Hibs under Butcher who slid down the table, Hearts have been rock bottom since the end of 2019.

I don’t understand the Hearts fans theory that if they’d replaced Levein with Stendel sooner they would be in a better position and it’s all Budges fault for leaving it so long.

They have been worse since Stendel took over, leaving it so long is looking like it’s giving them a wee chance if saving their season.

I think 32 points is the magic number - every team finishing below that has been relegated (Hearts had a 15 point deduction in one). So they would need 5 wins (minimum) from 11 games given past stats but clearly other sides influence that. Lot of football to be played but Hamilton tend to grind out wins at this stage of the season and Saints and County are picking up good wins.

Hard to see Hamilton getting that total as well though...

But with 10 / 11 games to go anything is still possible right enough.

Argh still too early to tell but all I can say is that if Hibs were in Hearts position I’d be rather less than confident that it was going to end well!

They were actually bottom at the end of March with 24 points. They finished 6th on 42 points. They won 6, drew 3 and lost 1 of their final games.

It was a 10 team league.

What they conveniently forget though is that back then the top league consisted of 10 teams and there was no split like now.

They have to face up to the fact that after the next 6 games they are in a dog eat dog scrap to avoid the drop with the teams around them sharing 15pts each from the games after the split. Its why the new set up works so well.

Hamilton and St Mirren genuinely look better than Hearts though, whether they have a better team on paper or not.
