Stendel obviously doesn't give a ****. Imagine Jack Ross decided to take a few days off before our biggest game of the season while we were bottom of the league. I hope his flight is cancelled just to highlight the comedy show that is Heart of Midlothian. He obviously had Budge over a barrel during negotiations
    Maybe he thinks he’s Santa

Yep. I'd be seething if that was us and the new boss swans off home ahead of a huge game when you are 3 points adrift at the bottom and he hasn't won a point yet.

Instead some of them try to convince themselves it isn't a big deal and not training the day before the match won't make any difference. They really are a bunch of gullible fools.

Talking about the situation with Stendel not the result. My concerns re the derby I've posted elsewhere. It will not be easy and we have a habit of not putting the boot into them when they're down.

But Id be far from happy if a manager took days off ahead of a derby with us struggling.

  7. #1326
I think stendal going away ahead of the game makes no difference. The players will be up for the game. Ours better be. Hearts are there for the taking but weve been there before and not ceased on it. I should be confident about this game but dont

From what I can gather from comments on KB, this game, by far, is the biggest of the season for them and it has nothing to do with relegation, which most of them are resigned to. In my opinion, the penny has dropped that they can not buy themselves from the foot of the league. They might have the desperation to beat us on Boxing Day but they don’t have the balls or character to climb the league.

There was a nice stat I saw on Twitter - since the move to a smaller top league in 1975, the team that was bottom of league at Christmas has finished season bottom of the table 73% of the time (32 out of 44)

Saw that. Also 70% of the teams top at Christmas has gone on to win the league.

Guess who managed not to do it twice!

I can't believe any team would jambottle such a lead.

Makes a big difference on practising shape and tactics. Especially as manager has been gone for a few days. Looking at video analysis of the opposition. Keeping your touch in tune. No athlete in the modern world would prepare for a major event the way Hearts have. Also a day with family instead of spending it focusing on the event does not prepare you mentally. Not saying we will win because of this but certainly improves our chances.

Hearts players will try to make it a war as they know that’s the way to beat Hibs. This actually could cause deeper long term problems for Stendel as it’s not how he likes to play and could be very undermining to his authority and he’ll be aware of that.

How Ross will approach this is another matter. For Hibs it’s always damned if you do damned if you don’t on the football v violence dichotomy.

Cancel the above post. Didn’t know Stendel had gone. Seriously doubt he’ll be back.

Imagine if you're a player, your in a team rooted at the bottom of the league, you've got a huge game against your rivals and your manager, the leader, is nowhere to be seen.

    Not a great look.
Agree however you just don't know what if any impact it will have as the game will take care of itself especially given the expererienced players they have (Berra Whelan et). In some ways it may be better they don't train xmas day and relax with families. It is very unusual though especially given we have a break coming up after the 29th though probably shows how desperate Budge was to get Daniel in. Assume today's session would be short and sharp anyway and as much to get mind on the game plus work on some set plays. The coach not being part of the sessions this week is the most unusual thing in he went home on Saturday and only returns today.

Honestly wouldn't rule it out especially if he is being blocked bringing his assistants in.

If I was a Hearts player sat at home today knowing Hibs were in training it would 100% be in the back of my mind. I wouldn't like it one bit. Especially with the manager away on a jolly.

Anyway merry Christmas to my fellow Hibbys and any lurking Jambos. I'll go back to my ill feeling towards you tomorrow. Have a good one.

You're confusing the manager with the players? Or maybe the gugenpress thing means they all have to have a few sharpeners before moving onto the nerve steadiers.

I really hope we thump them. The meltdown at Tinycastle and among the fans will be incredible and joyous to witness.

The only silver lining for them is that the Pope is forgiving people who make a complete mess of things.

If they lose their next two games, the manager is in bug trouble with the fans Imo.

If that happens we HAVE to have a big “one Daniel Stendel”.

No chance he’d ever recover from that.

That, combined with Hamilton beating St Johnstone followed by St Johnstone beating Ross County, would leave them six points adrift.

Each of the four individual results needed for that to happen is likely, assuming we take care of business tomorrow.

Hammering them tomorrow would lead to them *****ing more money on average players to keep the fans optimistic, having no affect on their survival hopes, leaving them in the championship with a **** load of debt next season. Long live Ann Budge.

What's really amusing is the acclaim and bigging-up afforded pretty much every one of their signings over the last 4 or 5 years on KB... and yet there they are, staring relegation in the face

Vanacek was my favourite, poor guy never knew netball wasn't that popular in Scotland and Hearts didn't even own their own court.
