Cummings did well against Hearts and Rangers. Think an indication he could do it at the SPL level. A fit and settled Cummings would perform better than he did with Rangers. I hope I am proved wrong but I think the SPL is a level to far for Doidge.

The Net has a variety of views and a fans forum for debate so don't be surprised that everyone does not fully agree with you.
I'm not fussed if people dont agree with my opinion, it's the constant negative comments about our new players that's bothering me, give the guys a chance before writing them off

I'm personally not bothered about what Cummings has done at Ibrox or anywhere else. I have seen him playing for Hibs long enough to know the player he is with us.

I wanted Scott Allan back even though he was rotten at Rotherham and never played at Celtic.

Cummings only good at Championship level except he has scored plenty and against The Rangers, Hearts, Dundee Utd, Aberdeen. Decent teams as far as Scotland goes. A fit and focused Cummings scores goals for me, natural goalscorer.

I actually like Doidge, think he will surprise a few and start banging them in. Still.think we need a 4th striker.
Yip he scored against them in the cup and done well for us, it's completely different doing it week in week out in the league and he has shown at every club since that he doesnt do it, so not sure why he would all of a sudden be scoring here every week, he may well do of course but I doubt we will find out, allan is a completely different player and he showed that when he came back on loan last season that he can cut it in the premier league

Still 3 weeks to end of the window. Would be amazed if there wasn't a couple more coming in after Middleton.
I dunno why how many times does the manager have to say we aren't signing anyone else. I'm now at stage I will be amazed if we do otherwise why would he keep saying there is no budget and we are done???

If he was being coy surely he would just play things down and say maybe or we shall see.

I honestly think we are done and I will be avoiding this place like the plague on 2nd Sept.

Personally I'd like another 2 in - a striker and a midfielder but maybe we are happy to give youth a chance and recruit again in Jan.

The preferred formation might be 1 up but it won't be a one size fits all. We will have to go 2 on occasion
Currently we have enough as even playing 2 up front we have those players plus bench cover.
If one gets injured we lose bench cover for 2 up front but we can move to one up front and utilise the other forward players we have to maintain an attacking shape.

The issue for me is midfield.
If we get an injury to Vela or Slivka we're very light in players that can run the midfield.
I also think we may need both of them in the starting XI at points.

We're not solid in the Centre for me and I can see that causing issues later in the season as even if the attack and defence are playing well smart teams will over run us in midfield and we won't have a platform to feed the attack and they'll be able to apply consistent pressure to our defence.

The plus point was Hecky playing Slivka (who I was starting to think he didn't fancy) and Slivka playing well.

I was very surprised that we didn't bring in a couple of more bodies last season, despite Lennon saying he was happy with the team. The lack of numbers was then highlighted by the team we put out against Livingston.

It's the same this year. I would be very surprised if we don't get in a couple more signings. I do expect a couple more loan players or players out of contract will be brought in nearer the end of the transfer window. My worry is that we'll do the same as last season.

Doidge was a one in two goal scorer in the 4th tier of English football. One in 17 in the third tier of English football. I think the SPL straddles the bottom of the championship/top of league one. It is no surprise he is struggling and will probably find the SPL a level to far for him.

    It was ever thus.

If a new midfield player doesn't beat 3 opponents with a subtle drop of the shoulders and then play a defence splitting pass to a forward within the first 20 minutes, he's a dud.

If a forward doesn't score a worldy in each half of his first half a dozen games, he might as well be in the reserves.

Frankly, I skim past most of the posts on this thread, sometimes several pages at a time, because they have nothing at all to do with transfer speculation. They're as relevant to the topic as puns, which people moan about ad finitum, but which, unlike all the other nonsense, actually only appear infrequently.

Some people are naturally pessimistic so their posts will be more negative. We just have to quietly disagree and move on.

    And rightly so!

How dare the manager get his players in early and then tell us the truth that we're not looking to recruit anyone else!!!
Tbf Heckingbottom did also let it slip that we were short in midfield in his pre-Match press conference the other day. He’s consistently said he’s happy with what he’s got but if he’s saying now we’re a little short in midfield before a ball is kicked what happens when injuries and suspensions kick in (I suspect there could be a few suspensions for Vela).

Including Betfred and preseason. I hope I am wrong and suddenly goes up a level. But the historical stats and performances so far do not look promising.

I think a more objective comment would be he passed to Allan who made the space to shoot with his skill.

People seriously having an issue signing Cummings?

proven goal scorer when playing and in an environment he’s settled in.

all this unproven nonsense, these boys must be really worried with heckys signings bar Allan. The whole lot of them never even played in this country before.

Looks like you’ve made your mind up already about Doidge and your comment here confirms that.

He made the space to take the pass, he laid off a superb ball to Scotty who scored a super goal!

He is here to score goals and most people will judge him on that and to an extent I agree. But if he lays off a winning pass every weekend and we get 3 points then it’s job done for me.

Confirms again that you’ve written him off after a few games.

But he made the pass. Simple as. He assisted the team winning the game.

Or..... the quick layoff provided Allan with an opportunity inside the box.

Be objective. Nothing special in the pass. Not defense splitting, seeing space and an angle nobody else did leaving Allan just to tap it in. Alan did all the work and creativity fir that goal.

James Collins has a far superior scoring record than Doidge in the English 3rd tier before and after his Hibs stint. We know how he struggled in the SPL. Again I hope Doidge has a fantastic transformation but his record in the third tier in England and his showing so far in friendlies, the Betfred cup and the SPL does not indicate that will likely happen.

Your first paragraph is utter drivel and his pass was just that a pass. Regardless of what kind of pass it was, he passed to Allan who then scored. FWIW The area around the pass was congested with players and the pass had to be accurate. Nicely weighted pass (Hanlons pass to Doidge also too feet) and goal scored from it.

If you cannot see the part Doidge played in the goal then I’m not sure how you view football!

I think you are seeing things you want to see rather than what actually happened. Doidge pass was nothing out of the ordinary. Players at various levels could have made it. Allan's work and skill turned it into a goal. We brought Doidge to score goals not to make simple passes. He fluffed two sitters and and his one on one with goalkeeper was like a damp squib. When he went from the fourth tier of Englush football to the third tier he scored one in 17. The data and performances so far do not indicate a roaring success. We will of course wait and see and hope for some miraculous transformation.
