Wow, 4 posts in space of a few minutes about little old me. Slightly obsessed maybe. Kinda scary though.

Does it not occur to you that I've only just logged on for the first time since about 10pm yesterday?

I’d disagree with that. With the exception of the introduction of TEF, Jo was a decent minister when he last held his Universities post.
Yes, he is by far the most impressive Johnson. However, he sticks out like a sore thumb among the new mob as a prominent remainer who resigned and spoke up for a ref2. What’s so special about him?

I don't know a great deal about his brother, but he comes across as more thoughtful and less ruthlessly ambitious than Boris.

Possibly. But given the obvious qualifications required by the rest of the appointments what do you think made him worthy of a job offer from Boris?

To misquote Blackadder - there are pieces of lemon peel floating down the Thames that are more thoughtful than Boris.

On a similar vein, what are the qualifications for Defence Secretary? and Education Secretary? Presumably there is a cross over and Gavin Williamson has it.

He has just used a hell of a lot of words to say “Make Britain Great Again.” A truly awful speech.

I think the only qualification Boris wanted was a willingness to back a no deal Brexit no matter what their previous position on that was. Or to be his brother. Brexit is the only show in town for him just now.

I was disappointed to see mentalist Ross Thomson not get the Scottish Secretary gig but after reading Alister Jack's fury over the song choice at the Proms in Glasgow a couple of years back all I can say is the choice is...well....pleasing

""Dumfries and Galloway’s MP claims the BBC may be “pandering to a separatist agenda”.
Alister Jack was upset with the songs performed at the Proms in the Park concert in Glasgow, held to mark the Last Night of the Proms in the Royal Albert Hall.

Sections of the London event were broadcast on a big screen to the Glasgow audience with breaks at other stages so that concert goers could enjoy live musical performances.
But the Tory MP was furious this meant people at the live event could not join in with songs he classes as the “staple diet” of The Proms. He wrote: “Only the Proms in the Park attendees in England and Northern Ireland were able to enjoy and sing along to Rule Britannia!, Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem.

He has now expressed his anger by writing to the BBC’s director general Lord Hall.

“These great songs are part of the staple diet of The Proms and it is ridiculous that the BBC chose to deny the Scottish Proms fans on Glasgow Green the rousing conclusion they have come to expect.
“The BBC give the impression that they are pandering to a separatist agenda.” "

The Daily Mash guide to the new cabinet, sweary words replaced.

A ‘Who the **** are these mad ********?’ guide to Johnson’s new cabinet

BORIS Johnson has replaced the entire cabinet with fanatical Brexiters who have sworn a blood oath of loyalty to him. What the **** and who the ****?

    Sajid Javid, chancellor

The rest of the cabinet have a trick they play on Javid, where they point at a random person and say ‘He supports Islamic terrorism’ and watch Javid wrestle him to the ground. Then they laugh and tell him it was a joke. But he always does it again the next time.

    Priti Patel, home secretary

One of many cabinet members already blooded with her first sacking scandal, Patel enjoys no-deal Brexits, kidnapping pets, setting fire to barns and hatred. Believes that any sort of problem is your own fault and you deserve it.

    Dominic Raab, foreign secretary

A Brexiter so fervently patriotic he is practically American, Raab despises foreigners and can barely be restrained from headbutting them. The current thinking is that this is exactly what the position needs.

Michael Gove, chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster

Strange in every way and possibly not human, but will go on telly when Boris can’t be arsed, which will be often.

    Stephen Barclay, Brexit secretary

In charge of sorting out Britain’s no-deal exit, which by definition requires him to say and do nothing in order to succeed effortlessly. Even so, he will probably manage to **** it up.

    Liz Truss, international trade secretary

A Boris Johnson backer for years, all Truss has got out of it is this bullsh*t non-job. An object lesson in what you get for backing Boris Johnson.

    Andrea Leadsom, business secretary

Leadsom plans to tell all businesses that their first duty is to support the Conservative Party’s ideological goals, give the party all their money and crush the party’s enemies. When told that’s technically communism, she will smile vacantly, as if her brain has been removed.

Jacob Rees-Mogg, leader of the Commons

You know when a second-year law student decides they’ll get themselves off their drink-driving charge by referencing the Carters & Drovers Act of 1641, and instead gets three months in prison? That’s what will happen here.

I thought it was funny 😂
    Space to let

Boris gets his lines from 310, by saying the FM was elected without a vote. Oh how the lies are peddled throughout by tory HQ, and the 77th brigade.

How many minutes (hours) per day does Boris J waste on saying "Erm". Every sentence begins with Erm and is thereafter quickly followed by more Erms.

He comes across as a man who doesn't really know what's going on and a head full of mince.

    What a mess!

Watching some of the public commentary over the last few days would have been amusing if it wasn't so serious. I reckon you can split the Johnson 'fans' into 3 categories:

Wealthy people who own multiple properties, land, have trust funds for their kids and enjoy murdering the odd fox or eagle. The bread and butter for people like Johnson, ultimately I don't like the way they vote but I can understand why they believe in their reasons for doing so.

Idiots who think he's 'a real human being', laud him for being 'funny on TV that time' and find his eccentric toff act utterly convincing.

Finally you have people who seem to think the UK was a utopia sometime between 1940 and 1966. Everyone lived in twee villages, drank bitter and took a brisk constitutional after a Sunday church service. They genuinely believe such a world existed and seem to think Boris can free us from the shackles of modernity and transport us back there. They also have an irrational fear of the 'PC Brigade' and seem to yearn for the days when you could call gay people 'shirtlifters' and black people 'sambo' without censor whilst brown people referred to their betters as 'sir' or 'boss'.

The last group are by far the most terrifying as many appear truly deluded and, despite often struggling to make ends meet, believe someone like Johnson wants to help them and that everything can be mended by invoking the 'spirit of the blitz'. Of course none of them really lived through the era they pine for because if they did they would know that it was a brutal time to be poor, as it has always been.

About right but you can add another group, those that are absolutely terrified that Jeremy Corbyn might become PM.

Don’t underestimate him, that’s his onstage persona. Behind the bluster there is a cold calculating mind, the calculation being what is best for Boris. This is a game for him , the damage he does to the lives of thousands of people’s will not bother him in the slightest.

On a positive note. The "i'm alright jack" NO voters from 2014 won't be so "alright" for much longer.

    Go boris!
