Thats shows just how much Lennon had lost the plot
Heckingbottom had him as a sub for a number of games too.....it was because we had no real alternatives, same as Lennon...

Lennon lost the plot and started Shaw and Allan instead of Kamberi and MacLaren at one point. His use of Allan was, in my opinion, to make a point to Flo. I’m sure he even subbed Allan on with a minute left in the Derby just to get it up Kamberi.

Allan had a bad injury but if he was going to even get close to making it at this level we would’ve seen a lot more of him by now. His record in the lower leagues before his injury is dreadful. At least with Shaw we’ve seen that he can perform and score goals.

I was surprised when he got a contract extension last year, wish the lad all the best but, in my opinion, has shown less than the likes of Handling, Harris, Stanton etc....and look what happened to them.

....in fact the only graduate from the development team/training academy in the last few years that i think will make it to a level above hibs is Porteous. For me that is a worry, one decent propect every 6/7 years for all that investment??

I think the public outing of Lennon's dismay with Kamberi's performances have almost universally been seen as not a helpful way of managing the player...equally though, I've seen little from Kamberi since Lennon left that suggests his views were wrong....there is no doubt the previous coaching team were deeply frustrated with him. I suspect the current team will be getting there too.

Lewis Allan would not have got game time if Kamberi was performing well..they are both related, don't know if they were as calculated as you suggest - could be ..whatever though, they certainly haven't worked in getting Kamberi to perform.

Think this is a good point....perhaps a Fraser Murray could be added too.... but we've not seen anything from the rest yet to suggest they will be regulars.. it is a disappointing return so far.

    Agree with this!

    He is a nugget

It just shows how hard it is to make the grade at HIBS in the present system

I just hope he comes back fitter and stronger and kicks on

To think this time last year some on here wanted to put him out on loan

You play him a good few times and if he's not delivering you make that judgement. Lewis Allan has had 2 games and the odd subby appearance. Not enough to decide imo.

So you play him just to see that’s he’s good enough, while definitely putting the chance of 3 points in jeopardy as we are significantly weakening our team? Defies logic

Shaw is a far better player than Lewis Allan and tbh I’m not sure Shaw is good enough to take to where we want to be and that’s challenging top 4 and cups!

Make of that what you will!

Anyway, this seemed to start when someone said Oxford wanted him. Just for perspective, Dylan went to the same league and isn’t getting a game. If Allan’s agent gets him a move there then bravo

You have to show the manager enough in training to merit him taking a chance on you in games. He showed enough to make the bench, and get on a few times, but as football never stands still, someone else comes along and takes your place.

In the games he did get on, he did nothing special for anyone to say he's a real talent, so he has to show what he has in training.

Players who come through the ranks are what we all want, but they do have to produce, as there is a conveyor belt of players coming through every season, and we cant keep them all.

Shaw looks twice the player Allan does and i don't even think Shaw is at the required level...yet. I think Shaw has a chance however, maybe with a season long loan next season but i think Allan will need to move on permanently. Got to be honest about it, he isn't good enough for where we want to be. This is Hibs and we can't be carrying passengers. Wish him all the best and i wish i was as good a player as he is but im not good enough for Hibs and neither is he.

The root of the problem is that we went into the season with just Kamberi and MacLaren as our first team striker options with Shaw as back up and Boyle as a makeweight.

Calculated risk? Maybe but MacLaren got injured and Kamberi never got to the form of last season.

It is weird how football works. At the end of last season we seemed to have sorted out our forward positions and (almost) everyone was happy to see both strikers return. It just never clicked.

McNulty seems to have gone slightly off the boil since his Scotland debut but I would still like to see him back next season.

A lot depends on how Heckingbottom plans to set the team up but it could be all change up front.

Personally I like the idea of McNulty leading the line, Scott Allan in behind him and Horgan and Boyle out wide.

We already have a solid and experienced defence.

They may be in the same league but there's a world of difference between Sunderland & Oxford. Celtic & Ross C will be in same league next season. I think there could be a player in Lewis though like most I was surprised to see him get another year. I wish him well after all his travails wherever he goes.

The unknown with McNulty is how often will he score from outfield play Take away his penalties and he hasn’t scored that many and is currently not in scoring form
That miss for Scotland seems to have possibly dented his confidence a bit
With Kamberi out of sorts again it highlights we need to think about who to bring in to provide more firepower as we won’t be able to afford zMcNulty and Shaw seems to be unable to persuade Heck he deserves more game time so he isn’t scoring either when he comes on

He like to tease. I'm not even sure how many Hibs transfer stories he gets right?

    Absolutely

Let the wild accusations of being a spraff and a Jambo when a rumour doesn’t come to fruition commence

Nobody been out buying a Sun this morning to find out what Alan Nixon’s hibs transfer scoop is?

I’m guessing it’ll be that we’re trying to keep McNulty on loan next season.
