Cafe Andaluz again last night(George IV bridge)
Probably my favourite chain restaurant the fixed price menu is a bargain.

Back in Tom Kitchin for lunch today, been there previously for dinner in the evening and dd the tasting menu with paired wines and trumpets and whistles etc and it was truly excellent.
Today was more pared back, lunch from the set menu.
It's not cheap, certainly you can get a good three-course meal for half the price in Edinburgh, but it is ridiculously good value for money. All the dishes were at that level of sublime that tips them into Michelin-star class, which I guess is why he retains his star.
It doesn't hit the credit card lightly, but a trip to Kitchin is well worth the money IMO and the lunch menu is a steal for a special treat. There's only one thing better than a Hibs calendar and that's two Hibs calendars

What’s the Chop House down Leith like?
Thinking of planning a meal for January time once all the Christmas stuff is out of the way and that’s been mentioned a few times.

I had a look at the menus but they are not priced. Looks either unprofessional or hiding something. Seasonal / tourist pricing?
What did the bill come to if you don't mind me asking?

They do have set times on the menu but we’ve found when quiet midweek sundays etc they offer it.

Thanks

That was the first time I'd been to the Chop House in spite of living in Leith for 14 years and it was our first night out since having a baby 8 months ago.
It was top notch and without being much of a foodie myself I would highly recommend it.

Don’t know why as I’ve been to Chop House and the Leith one is indeed better.Last edited by overdrive; 18-11-2018 at 02:04 PM.

Been 3 times to Michael Neave Kitchen and Whisky Bar for lunch. Outstanding value. £9.99 for 2 courses of beautifully presented high quality food and coffee and brownie. £11.99 on Saturdays for 2 courses or £14.99 for 3, slightly more elaborate food. My favourite place in the city for lunch

For anyone heading through to Glasgow. Just had a very nice lunch in The Bothy just off Byers road.
Set menu was 3 courses for £16 and portions were very generous. Highly recommend it.

Scran and Scallie in Stockbridge was excellent this lunchtime. Scallops to start with bechamel, raisins and capers totally delicious, steak pie to follow was certainly something Easter Rd caterers could learn from. Set lunch menu at £17.95 is ridiculously good value.

To be fair, I have avoided going because of the mock Scots language. It's almost as if it is aimed at tourists.
Sit yer doon etc lurk in the bar yer mains.
Perhaps I am too old for there.

Went to Scott’s at Port Edgar, South Queensferry at the weekend. Beautiful place inside and great location
All had different dishes, but the ones who had Lenon sole and Fish and Chips enjoyed there’s the most.
Not cheap though

Lebanese restaurant in St Patrick’s Square “Beirut” has amazing food. BYOB too so lucky there’s a co-op just round the corner to get the vino from.

Went to Vittoria before the game on Wednesday. Pretty decent, nothing majorly fancy but very decent value for money especially with the 20% off food for being a season ticket holder.

I must be so out of touch.
A main course at £15.45 in St Pats Square?? The pavements must be made of gold now.

I just read a very good review of the Little Chartroom, on Albert Place, in The Guardian.
Has anyone been? There's only one thing better than a Hibs calendar and that's two Hibs calendars
