That's not the problem though. The problem isn't whether or not there's a case to be made for Jerusalem being the capital of Israel, the problem is when to go about discussing that. Its a bone of contention between the Palestinians and Israel and its status would have been an important part of any settlement brought about by negotiation ... by doing what he's done Trump has basically told the Palestinians the status of the city isn't up for negotiation and that the US recognises Israel's claim to it in its entirety. There is no way the Palestinians were going to accept that and Trump must have known the trouble it would cause when he made his ill advised and stupid decision, he has set back the prospect of America brokering peace between the Israelis and Palestinians by years.

There is no Christian country laying claim to Jerusalem, only the Islamic world are doing this and considering the Jewish faith predates the Islamic faith then yes Jerusalem Is Jewish.

Surely the sensible solution would be that the israelis and palestinians can share jerusalem as their capital , rather than spend a lifetime fighting over it
