Look at wee Jim... mixing it with the big time. He's star struck.
Surprised he didn't ask King, " just how rich/good are you " ? Wee Jim really has led a charmed life. 2 divorces featuring private detectives & adultery, drink driving, thrown off a BA flight for being drunk & just absolutely hopeless at his job & yet on he sails, untouched & unashamed!

Haha deary me. Galling, int it? When you have to make a living actually needing to be good at what you do when you get folk like that, glibly and shamelessly coining it in for doing next to nowt.

Well, not entirely untouched. He was staff, but he's been freelance for some time. Sky know the 'hopeless clown' routine is only effective when used sparingly. These guys are not stupid - who else could have carried that interview off with the same level of obsequiousness and bemused disregard for journalistic standards (i.e. 'so, are you actually going to invest any money in hun or not?') as yon Jim did. I thought it was a masterpiece and should be mandatory viewing for anyone studying journalism/comms/marketing/PR/ and... law?

I don't know if this has been posted already but just a reminder what a 35,000 bottle wine cellar looks like.

He says it's not an investment ,it's all there to be drunk .I wonder how long he will take to get through that lot .i feel flush when I have my wine rack full with 12 bottles .

Where is his evidence or research to back up the claim rangers fans outspent Celtic fans on buying merchandise historically and that's why they are the bigger club .
However he them has to recognise that at present they are not doing that ,because the Club are not benefitting from Ashley's contract ,as the fans won't put money into Ashley's coffers as it isn't helping the Club .
He said he is confident that something can be worked out to allow Rangers to in effect take thier rightful place back as No 1 spending Club in Scotland , but for that to happen he clearly needs to get Ashley to play ball

There is none. Did you expect any?

Of course King knows that hun retail is suffering because of the 7.5p/£ they get from the Ashley deal.

Yes, King clearly needs Ashley to 'play ball' - but Ashley wants him in jail. Ashley will crush King like a beetle. The only person that doesn't seem to realise it is King himself.

It's personal, now, with Ashley, and I have seen first hand what he has done to NUFC. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest he'll do worse to the hun than he did to the Mags because the latter bring in £130+ annually in Sky TV and prize money, whereas the former bring in tuppence ha'penny.

    I can't wait.

95 years if you drank a bottle per day. So, 47 approx at two bottles per day.

Impossible for King to drink it all. Partly becuase of his age and life expectancy but mostly because its been confiscated, apparently...

Could he have got Durrant and John Brown round to help him neck the lot before the tax man arrived? That might have made the seemingly impossible possible.

That's what started all this. Murray had to find a way to match Celtic's extra income from having 10,000 extra seats to sell every game. EBT's were his solution.

From that graph though you can see Celtic's turnover is about £60m compared to Sevco's at about £16m.
They are worlds apart just now

Winston Churchill drank 42,000 bottles of champagne during his life mostly Veuve Clicquot.

Churchill was 90 when he died.

Let's assume he started drinking champagen at 20 and continued doing that until he died, he would have had to drink an average of 1.6 bottles a day.

He must have been permanently p1ssed!!

I believe for many decades he regularly consumed 2/3 bottles a day and sometime one for breakfast

Presumably there would have been sales tax of some description on them

Watched an episode of QI years ago. They claimed more internet forum chat threads ended when the subject switched to Hitler than any other topic.

Now we are at Churchill it's not a big leap to Hitler but I've a feeling even old Adolf ain't gonna stop this thread.

Best not to presume anything where King is concerned. Strikes me as the kind of guy who favours outdoor tables at cafés because it's easier to skip off without paying the bill.

I don't think any thread about Rangers can ever be too far away from slipping into talk about horrible nazis.

Looks like Ashley's legal team have been Interdicting Sevco at the courts last week.

I agree about presuming anything about King but I was actually presuming there was tax on a bottle of champagne before King was born.

I think King was trying to belittle Ashley in that interview, by repeatedly referring to him as a 'retailer'.

His self-regard and inability to realise who he is dealing with is staggering.
