The reaction of Fatty Foulkes, Hearts and FoH is disgraceful. How dare they criticise the Council for acting in the best interests of tax payers and ending this subsidy. They cheated and now they should pay.

Interesting that the Council was able to sell the school so easily. Perhaps it is to someone who is equally ready to purchase the site next door when it soon becomes available. The bigger the overall site, the greater the value as it allows more flexibility.

I'm sure this has not gone unnoticed in Lithuania.

They have money coming in from match day revenues just now and this would be enough to sustain them for as long as possible. If Hearts aren't making enough money to survive now, they never will.
    Are you sure?

Given that the majority in attendance will be getting in free (10,000 season tickets sold we were told) it only leaves a small percentage of paying customers.
Even if they get £75k from walk ups you will have policing costs, stewarding, and many other match day costs deducted. It also has to last for at least 2 weeks, not just the weekend of the game.

And is entirely within the COMAH zone which prevents use for housing. Only the NW corner of the football ground is affected in the same way.
Thats ok those new flats on Tyncastle will need Car Parking facilities - Stick that in the NW corner.

What's wrong with the timing? That it happened while homfc are in admin?

The een didn't like my comment that I couldn't wait for hmfc to die, and removed it. Must be yams on mod duty today.
Nearly 250k has been spent maintaining it for HoMFC. It should have been sold three years ago if you ask me. 80k a year? Or just over a months wages for Zaliulas in other words.

The EEN is an absolute rag. Too scared to lose it's readership by printing truths about HoMFC.

Totally. It seems that they have only put the property on the market once it became abundantly clear that Hearts were totally potless. They set it by as Hearts had promised to buy it and ECC paid for the upkeep when, as you state, they could have bought it for a couple of players salaries. More questions than answers methinks.

That's why I want the poll reset. I'm sure plenty of people will have changed their mind since Administration. Their total lack of contrition and constant begging for help will have angered more than just you and me.

After being challenged by the News on the matter, however, city chiefs have now agreed a one-week stay of execution – giving Hearts more time to find alternative arrangements ahead of their game against St Mirren on October 5.
A council spokeswoman said: “The use of the former Tynecastle High School car park by Hearts FC was a local arrangement between the school and the club. The council notified Hearts of our intention to market this over two months ago and the site is currently under offer. We will be giving the club access to the car park for tonight’s match and this coming weekend due to concerns raised about the impact on local traffic.
So they have had plenty of time to make other arrangements but as usual do burger all. Hardly the council's fault they'll not have anywhere to park their cars. Maybe Hibs could rent them their car parking facilities on match days

The penny has dropped at last with someone at the council , all deluded plans of new stands and hotels are gone . The council are now selling up, really would be interested to find out who and for how much the small car park has hone for. Hopefully Lovell affordable housing will let us know .....
It's not the small car park beside the ticket office they're talking about (the picture and caption in the EEN article is misleading). I think that belongs to HMFC and is mainly being used on matchdays for emergency services. The site that is being sold is the old Tynie High School, which the council has been maintaining over the last few years because they agreed to sell to Romanov when he was talking about expanding the PBS. CEC put the site up on the open market soon after HMFC went bust.

They couldn't have bought the school site for a couple of salaries! All that would have covered is the upkeep costs that CEC were incurring.

Also nothing to stop HMFC contacting the new owner to see if they would be willing to let them continue using the site.

The difficulty for them being that the new owners are unlikely to be as 'accommodating' as their muckers at CEC.

They've been getting attendances of around 15k at home games as well as a portion of the income from some of their away games as well, tack on to that an increase in hospitality attendance as well as the other small stuff like catering, mascots, donations, merchandise etc, my understanding is they can last for a while yet. Of course, that all changes if they leave admin and have to start paying their staff and players aren't taking pay cuts and fans aren't shelling out to save their club.

Right now (season ticket sales aside) Hearts probably have the biggest matchday turnover outside of the Old Firm and their costs are very low as they aren't paying out as much as they would be if they were not in Admin.

Long story short, they are likely fine to continue for the rest of the season but they are still buggered when it comes to a) getting out of admin and into the hands of a buyer and b) being a sustainable business whilst also being successful on the park. In b) I'm strongly of the opinion when it comes to Hearts, only one of those is possible.

The EEN have responded to me on twitter. A bit of backtracking going on. They agree with the action, not the timing.
They gave them 2 months notice that they would be selling it. Plenty of time for Hearts to make alternative arrangements or at least let their fans know at games that the car park is likely to be sold on and unavailable for use.

Most of their attendance comprises of cheap season tickets that they've already had the money for, and the walk ups will start to dwindle once the initial euphoria of saving Hertz starts to ebb away and they're getting pumped on a weekly basis. They've also had the three biggest away supports they'll have already in Celtc, Eberdeen and us so they won't be getting much from the away gate either.

Incidentally, their catering deal is the same as ours IIRC with an outside company paying for rights to do it - Hertz make nothing from the actual sales. Also, their hospitality sales are way down on last year from what I understand.

Begging bowl statements from the admins, slating the uptake of hospitality packages for recent games, does not bode well!

And the fact HoMFC have shafted public funded bodies, as well as their council tax. They're disgusting and have no remorse whatsoever. Even through administration and the realisation of the horrible, inexcusable robbing of charities and poppy funds, they still behave in such arrogant fashion. They need destroyed. Lock the gates, flush them down the pan and finally rid Edinburgh of this disgraceful skidmark on the y-fronts of society.

I've been told sales are up but the number of bodies on a match day is down significantly. BDO aren't for freebies

Hopefully this action will calm down some of the paranoid posters who believe the council is biased towards them and plan to build them a new stadium etc... Yes I know the have been letting them use the car park but they may have been paying rent on it

On another note Hearts bid £4m for the site in 2010, surly its worth more now and if it is what is the PBS worth?

What are the chances of getting hold of this info?

Yeah but they kept this kinda quiet did they not. The council probably gave them the option to buy it, along with the adult learning centre directly behind the main stand a long time ago but they wouldn't/couldn't. They deserve no sympathy and will get and are getting everything that's coming to them. Ha ha

Ps Wonder if any if our Yam guests would like to comment on this current piece of underhand tactics fro CEC or in fact any other issue that related to stealing it thieving of public and charity monies. Would be good to get their view.. Poor wee lambs!

I think the media should leave well alone here, if they want to help Hearts. The more the story is spoken about, the more non football people will learn about what's going on.

Not only have Hearts been bumping the council for council tax, the council has been giving them free rent of a public asset. Meanwhile services are cut to support them.

And all the while, according to ****back, the fritzls have been charging people ( including blue badge holders!) £60 to use the car park they've been getting for nowt.

Seriously, the more that comes out about them, the more it sounds like fiction.

No I don't believe the council favor them. Where does it say they were holding onto it? Hearts told them in May 2010 they didn't want it

If that is true, i would question the legality of them taking money to park on land that they had no right to do so on. Thats like me charging someone to park their car outside my house. Surely they cant do that. They really are the ****miest bunch of crooks ever. If there really is any justice they will die ver very soon
