I'll take David Akers as my kicker. Bit of a risk but with him playing in a dome this year his numbers should be massive . If he plays like last year, I'll just him.

Akers plays for the Lions not the 49ers. Hence why he'll be playing in a dome this season and racking up the points .

The idea is you don't drop your D on their bye week, you put them on your bench. Most teams will have a little wiggle room on their bench, it's not usual that you have to keep them all - injuries, poor performances, etc.

As I said, it's each to their own and this is only my second year but if you want multiple Ds on your team rather than more depth at the skill / scoring positions, so be it.

I have one "cycle" spot on my bench which is used to pick up/drop FAs where applicable depending on which position is on a bye-week

I found that last year I made some silly moves in that regard. I help onto Hernandez for longer than I should have really. It seems unlikely that anyone would have a team of 15 superstars, players that cannot be dropped because of their immerse value. But then you can't play them all either so perhaps trade candidates? I bet most people would take a decent RB in trade for a D. You can also play without a D that week. Some weeks Ds don't make any points anyway.

The thing is, by this stage in the draft you're not even looking at likely "sleepers" or good rookies, you are looking at RB's likely to score around 70-80 points in a season or WR's likely to score around 100 points in a season. I'd rather try to draft a bench D which is still likely to score highly 130+ points and can be rotated based on the match ups or used as trade bait with someone like yourself who hasn't selected a D yet.

I managed to pick up the Bears D mid season last year who went on to finish clear at the top of the scoring charts so maybe I got lucky, but having two D's for the second half of the season seemed to help as I was able to rotate them to suit the opponents.

I'm looking at getting depth at my skill positions because :
    1. Studs don't always perform,
    2. Diamonds in the rough,
    3. Injuries

I'm trying not to just pick up any old garbage but guys I think can produce given the right set of conditions.

I know I won't get the best D in the league but that doesn't really worry me. I think other people will have bigger concerns than their D. I mean, how often does a whole D get injured? How often does a TE, RB or WR get injured.

I'm not saying this will work, it's just my tactic for this year.

It's much easier to pick up a free agent WR or RB should injuries strike or a player have a bum season, but with only 32 D's available, there'll not be many left two pick up if you need a back up.

Are you going to play without a D against me in week 1?

The Ravens, Eagles, Jets, Falcons and Lions were all ranked as top ten defenses last season. They finished 16th, 28th, 13th, 20th and 27th overall come the end of the year. Have to side with Max on this one - I'm looking to find the next Doug Martin or Alfred Morris rather than trying to guess what defense will be good. I picked up the Bengals of the waiver and they were great!

No mercy. :). I lost a first round pick because I was late to the party.

Edit : I actually missed out on two players.

I'm expecting that we're going to be skipping Hi8sry, as he's undoubtedly out and about in London enjoying himself and not overly concerned about his final fantasy pick.

    Ah well.

    Dundee Claymores select:

Aaron Dobson - WR - New England
Jacquizz Rodgers - RB - Atlanta

    3.16, right on the button , .

Could we not just have given him the benefit of the doubt? We've got to wait till 3.16 tomorrow now anyway .

No. We didn't give Max Ayrshire or Max the benefit of the doubt when they missed their picks.

    Same rule for everyone

But. But. But. You don't need two D's, except for a bye week. Hey, each to their own. I'm happy for my competition to fill their bench spots with spare defenses and kickers. :)
none of the remaining players are better than what i have.i like having 2 D's and the ravens were the best on the board plus some weeks they will have a better match up.week 4 for example.ravens at bills and pats at falcons.easy decision there.

    Ayrshire's steroidal alter-ego?

The same thing will happen here so long as Hi8sry posts before 3.16pm tomorrow, when he can take both his picks together.

The rules are exactly the same for him as it was for Max and Ayrshire earlier and he'll be granted the same courtesy of taking both his picks when he gets around to posting. And I didn't come up these rules, so don't blame me

You're talking about a lot of undrafted players. The ones that are left are either underrated or a crapshoot. We'll see if my strategery works.

For those who aren't aware, Hi8sry won a car last night at Wembley in the penalty shoot out for the fans

He can whistle if he thinks that grants him special treatment for his fantasy picks though
